Sometimes it may happen that you want to send a postcard or an invitation to someone whose address you don't know, or go to a friend's house for a surprise visit and find that someone else lives in the house. There aren't many reasons why you need an address. Whether it's looking for a lost address or old friends we've lost sight of, finding where someone lives can be quite a simple feat.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Finding an Address Over the Internet
Step 1. Use backward phone search tools
Some websites allow you to enter a phone number and find the address associated with the person you are looking for. The Yellow Pages and the White Pages both offer this service.
When searching for an individual's personal information over the Internet, you risk running into privacy concerns. Finding someone's address and showing up at their home uninvited can be considered stalking or an invasion of privacy
Step 2. Search the White Pages
The White Pages allow you to search based on some already known data, such as the name or city of residence of the person you are looking for. You can also search for your phone number using this tool. Once you have the phone number, you can contact the person and ask them for their address.
- If you are looking for someone who lives abroad, try using 1240 Pronto Pagine Bianche or Numberway. Both sites offer detailed information on how to search in 6 continents and more than 33 countries.
- When looking for someone online, you may need to search for their name using different ways. Search by the person's nickname, maiden name and personal name.
Step 3. Use social networks
Social networks generally list the cities of residence of their users. Many sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, use GPS to indicate a person's location whenever they post a post on their profile. While these sites do not provide you with the person's address directly, they may offer ways to contact you in person to ask for the address. Try sites like Facebook, Reunion.com, Batchmates, Classmates.com, Pipl.com, and Linkedin.
- In order to view other user information, many social networking sites require users to create an account to log into. Some of these sites, such as Facebook, require that a specific person's friend request be accepted before their personal information can be viewed.
- Searching for people on social networking sites can be considered cyberstalking. "Cyberstalking" is a term used to refer to the use of the Internet or other electronic communications devices to harass, intimidate, threaten, monitor or make unwanted advances to another person. This includes the use of emails and interaction via social networking sites, such as Facebook; moreover, secretly checking or gathering information about a person can also be considered cyberstalking. Many cyberstalkers start by tracking their victims via the internet, often via social media. When searching for people via social media, be careful not to exceed privacy boundaries.
Step 4. Use a site to find lost friends
Sites like Lostfriends.org were created specifically to help those who are looking for people they have lost touch with. You can post a message on the site or read the ads to find out if someone is looking for you.
Step 5. Pay someone to help you
If these free modalities didn't help, there are many other sites that can provide you with a more detailed account of a person for a small fee. These sites include, Intelius, People Finders, and Instant Checkmate.
Be careful when using these sites. These websites claim to have access to public records, but such a level of investigation into an individual's personal information can be a serious breach of privacy
Method 2 of 2: Finding an Address Without Using the Internet
Step 1. Use a telephone directory
Start your search by using a local telephone directory to find a name and corresponding address. You can also use the telephone number to contact the person and thus verify their residential address.
If you know where the person works, you can look up their address or phone number. You may be able to contact the person and ask them for their home address
Step 2. Use alumni lists
Contact your high school and / or college to find an address or purchase a copy of the directory or register.
- Many schools and colleges also offer online research resources, message boards, social media groups, and email mailing lists. You could get in touch with different people thanks to these means and seek, with their help, information about the person.
- You can get in touch with the principals and representatives of most alumni associations, who may point you in the right direction. If you have previously been a member of such associations along with the person you are looking for, you can try to contact them to find out if they have any registers or mailing lists.
Step 3. Ask around
One of the easiest ways to find out where someone lives is to ask mutual friends and family. Talk to people who reside in the same location as the person you're looking for or stay in regular contact with them. They may have the person's address or a phone number to contact them.
Warnings
- If the person doesn't know you, be aware that you could pass for a stalker.
- When looking for someone's address, remember to never invade their privacy: the laws against stalking can also be very strict.
- Keep in mind that it is disrespectful to invade someone's privacy after stealthily discovering where they live, whether you are still in contact with the person, or if they have no intention of giving you their address and / or other personal information.
