This article shows you how to spot the signs indicating the likelihood that one of your WhatsApp contacts has blocked you. This procedure refers to Android mobile devices. It should be noted that there is no certain method to know if a WhatsApp user has blocked you, but there are some signs that can indicate with some precision that you have been blocked by a specific person, giving you the opportunity to ask why.
Steps
Step 1. Launch the WhatsApp Messenger application on your device
WhatsApp is characterized by a green icon in the shape of a cartoon inside which there is a white telephone handset.
Step 2. Go to the CHAT tab
If the WhatsApp user interface shows a tab other than the one indicated, simply tap the "CHAT" item in the upper left of the screen. This way you will have access to the list of all the conversations you have recently participated in.
If when you start WhatsApp the content of the last chat you took part is displayed, press the "Back" button in the upper left corner of the screen to access the "CHAT" tab
Step 3. Scroll through the list of active conversations to locate and select the one you want
This is the chat you sustained with the person you think may have blocked you. Select the contact name to view the conversation content in full screen.
Step 4. Send a new message to the selected person
You can compose a simple text message using the appropriate field or send an attachment. At this point, try to send the chosen content to the recipient of the chat.
Step 5. Check the check marks for the read receipt
They usually appear in the lower right corner of the message once it is delivered and read. If the person named has blocked you, the messages you send them are not delivered. In this case, you will see a single gray check mark appear at the bottom of the message, instead of two as in a normal situation.
- However, it should be noted that when only one check mark is displayed, it does not necessarily mean that the recipient of the message has blocked you. For example, it could simply indicate that the messages have been received by the WhatApps servers, but for any reason (for example because there is no field or because the recipient's smartphone is off) they have not yet been delivered to the device of the person indicated. If you have any doubts, you can always check later, at a later time, to see if the message is delivered late. Alternatively, you can try sending a second one.
- In the event that the person indicated has actually blocked you, they will not receive any of the messages you send them. In the event that you decide to unblock yourself in the future, all the messages you sent to her during the period in which you were blocked will not be delivered anyway.
Step 6. Check the profile picture of the person indicated
If the latter has blocked you, a stylized human silhouette in gray will appear next to its name in the upper left of the screen instead of the image it has chosen for the profile.
It should be noted that all WhatsApp users can choose not to select a profile picture or to delete it if they have chosen one previously. Also in these cases you will see the gray icon appear in the shape of a stylized human silhouette. This means that you will not be sure that you have been blocked anyway
Step 7. Check the person's login information
If the latter has blocked you, you will not be able to know when he last logged into WhatsApps or if he is currently online. This information appears below the contact's name located at the top of the conversation screen or next to their profile picture.
All WhatsApp users have the right to change their privacy settings and choose that the information relating to the last access is not made public. If one of your WhatsApp contacts has blocked you, you will not be able to know if it is currently online or when it was last accessed, however if you do not see this information you will still not have the mathematical certainty that you have been blocked
Step 8. If you are able to meet in person the contact you think blocked you, ask them directly for confirmation
Unfortunately, the only sure way to know if one of your friends has blocked you on WhatsApp is to ask them in person. Unfortunately, there is currently no other method that is as effective.
