Steps
Step 1. Place the fish in a separate bowl or container
This step can be a bit alarming at first glance, so read the following instructions carefully. Most aquarists do not have another tank or bowl other than the one for breeding and quarantine. If that's the case, don't worry. Take the fish with a net and place it in a clean container filled with water. You will leave it there for a maximum of five minutes (the time it takes to clean the ball). You will therefore not need to install a filter, heater or other accessories on the container, just make sure there is enough water for the fish
Step 2. Take a cloth and moisten it
Any clean cloth is fine. Be very thorough about cleaning! Dirty rags or anything similar could be dangerous for the fish's environment. Once you have chosen the cloth to use, moisten it with tap water. Let the water run over the cloth for about 5 seconds, turn off the tap and squeeze the cloth as much as you can. The remaining water is sufficient for cleaning
Step 3. If you want, empty the bowl now
It is not a fundamental step but it is strongly recommended. It is also a great thing to clean the bowl and change the water at the same time. If you choose to do so, suck in the water or simply pour it, no matter what technique you use. In this way, cleaning will be more thorough and simple
Step 4. Gently scrub the inside walls of the bowl with the wet cloth
This is a very important procedure! If the bowl is empty, it won't be very difficult and it won't take long, so you don't have to worry about the fish. What you need to do is just gently and carefully rub the inside of the bowl. Make circular motions. To clean the inside, do not use any soap or detergent! It is dangerous for the fish
Step 5. If desired, clean the outside of the ball now
While not mandatory, it is highly recommended and highly recommended. For this cleaning, the bowl should be empty. You can use cleaning products outside, but be very careful that they do not end up inside the container. You can wash the exterior walls with the same damp cloth you used for the interior and a little soap, glass cleaner or whatever you prefer. Always make circular movements. Rinse the bowl with normal tap water, preferably lukewarm. Attention: if you used the same cloth to clean the inside and the outside, at this point you cannot put it back inside the bowl
