Whether it's a new job, a wedding, or the fact that you simply miss your dangle earrings, you have decided that the time for well-loved dilated ears is over. Here are three different methods you can use to reduce the size of piercing holes. Keep in mind that once you have reduced the size of your earlobes, it is much easier to put the piercings back on again.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Reduce the Size of the Piercings
Step 1. Reduce the size of the caps you wear
Start with 'reduce' the size. For example, if your normal cap size is one 000 (10.4mm), put a 00 gauge (9.26mm) in your ear.
If you are past the 12mm gauge, the lobe is unlikely to shrink much. This is because the piercing stretches the tissue in your earlobe and then you have to wait for it to heal. If tears or infections occur, scar tissue builds up and, once they have been stretched, the earlobes sometimes fail to return to normal. Of course, everyone's body is different. The important thing is that you are aware of the possibility that your lobes may not close without surgery
Step 2. Wear the smaller caliber for a week
It is recommended to wear the smaller gauge until the lobe shrinks, so that this cap fits well. This phase for some people may only take a couple of days or more than a week for others.
Step 3. Repeat this process until you are wearing the smallest gauge
The smallest caliber is a 17 (1.4mm). Most of the wire earrings are 0.812mm and the studs are 1.02mm.
Method 2 of 3: Massage the Ears with Oil
Step 1. Remove your ear piercings
Scrub the holes with an antiseptic to make sure there are no bacteria.
Step 2. Massage your lobes every day
Use oils such as jojoba oil or vitamin E oil. These help repair the scar tissue caused by piercings and accelerate the healing process.
Step 3. Hydrate your ears after a shower
This helps the skin to become softer and activate circulation in the area. Moisturizing after a shower also helps get rid of dead skin, allowing the holes to heal without irritation or infection.
Method 3 of 3: Use a Restorative Cream
Step 1. Remove your ear piercings
Put a cotton ball under the water. Gently clean the holes with water.
Step 2. Put a drop of hemorrhoid cream on another cotton ball
Hemorrhoid creams like Preparation H work well. They reduce the scar tissue that has built up due to the plugs.
Instead of hemorrhoid cream, you can find other emollient products on the market
Step 3. Rub the cream around and into the piercing holes
You can apply it with your finger or use a fabric if desired.
Step 4. Massage the ears with the cream
Repeat this process every day. You should notice a difference in gauge size within a couple of weeks.
Advice
- You can buy skin-colored plugs if you have a certain event where you want to hide your piercings, but don't really want to get rid of the holes.
- Remember that everyone has different ears, one may take a longer or shorter time to heal than someone else's.
- If your ears shrink, they can easily stretch again. If you decide that you will want the piercings again, it should be easier to widen the lobes than the first time.
- If you have the money and time, surgery is another much more expensive way to get rid of your holes. Consult a doctor about the various options.
