The best fishing lures are live ones, such as minnows. Before leaving to go fishing in the lake, put together the necessary equipment to keep the minnows alive long enough to use them as bait.
Steps
Method 1 of 2:
Step 1. Fill a camping refrigerator with distilled water or lake water
The chemicals contained in bottled water could kill the fish.
The insulated fridge will maintain a constant temperature, helping you keep the fish alive
Step 2. Fill a plastic bag with lake or distilled water, then add the fish
Step 3. Close the bag and put it in the fridge for about 15 minutes
After a quarter of an hour, release the fish from the bag, letting them swim in the fridge.
Step 4. Store the cooler in a cool dark place, such as a locker
Minnows are delicate and live best in cold waters. If you keep the container in the sun, the water will heat up too quickly
Step 5. Place an aerator in the container to provide oxygen to the fish
Step 6. If you don't have an aerator, pour a few caps of hydrogen peroxide into the water
Hydrogen peroxide aids in the formation of oxygen in the water. Repeat this as needed to keep your oxygen level up
Step 7. Add ice cubes to the water
Repeat this as needed to lower the temperature.
Change the water every now and then
Method 2 of 2:
Step 1. Pour lake or river water into a bucket
If you don't have running water available, you can use distilled water.
Step 2. Put the bag with the fish in the water
Let them get used to the temperature of the water in the bucket.
