Scotch is a type of whiskey that has been made in Scotland for hundreds of years and can be used to make a wide variety of cocktails. The well-known scotch and soda contains only whiskey and carbonated mineral water. For a more bubbly version, you can add a few tablespoons of apple sorbet.
Ingrediants
Scotch and Classic Soda
- 60ml scotch whiskey (Scotch whiskey)
- soda
- Ice
Yield: 1 serving
Scotch and Foaming Soda
- 8 tablespoons of apple sorbet
- 240 ml of scotch whiskey
- 360 ml of soda
Yield: 4 servings
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Make a Classic Scotch and Soda
Step 1. Fill the glass with ice
Use a tall, cylindrical glass and fill it to the top with ice. It is preferable to use ice cubes, as it melts slowly and therefore does not risk diluting the flavor of the scotch.
Step 2. Add 60ml of whiskey
You can dose it using a shot glass. Shot glasses are typically 40ml, so you'll need a glass and a half of scotch to make your drink.
If you want to reduce or increase the alcohol content of the drink, you can vary the amount of scotch
Step 3. Top off the cocktail with soda
Pour it into the glass with the whiskey and ice. Fill the glass almost to the edge. In scotch and soda the predominant taste must be that of whiskey, so be careful not to add too much water.
Step 4. Stir the cocktail
Take the "bar spoon" (the long-handled bartender spoon) and mix the drink very briefly. Scotch and soda should not be mixed for long, a couple of rounds are enough.
Since the glass will be almost full to the brim, stir slowly
Step 5. Decorate the glass with a lime wedge (optional)
Take a lime, cut it into four parts and use a wedge to decorate the glass. If you want, you can drop a few drops of juice into the cocktail before cutting the wedge in half and hooking it to the edge of the glass.
Method 2 of 2: Make a Scotch and Bubbly Soda
Step 1. Divide the sherbet into glasses
Use 4 cylindrical glasses with high sides, preferably cold. Pour two tablespoons of apple sorbet into each glass.
Step 2. Add 60ml of whiskey to each glass
You can dose it using a shot glass. Shot glasses are typically 40ml, so you'll need one and a half glasses of scotch for each drink.
Step 3. Top off the cocktail with soda
Pour it into the glass after the scotch and sorbet. Fill the glass almost to the edge. It is not necessary to stir after adding the water.
Step 4. Serve the cocktail
Serve it immediately so the sorbet doesn't have time to melt and dilute the scotch flavor. This drink should be served with a straw and spoon.
