Like normal sausages, spicy ones can also be cooked in different ways. Since they are already very tasty, you can quickly cook them in the microwave or pan. Alternatively, you can give the sausages a nice smoky aftertaste by grilling them on the barbecue. If you want them to have a delicious crust on the outside or if you want to satisfy numerous diners, you can arrange them on a grill and let them roast in the oven.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Grill the Spicy Sausages
Step 1. Turn on the barbecue
If you have a modern gas barbecue available, set it to a medium-low temperature. If you are using a charcoal barbecue instead, wait until the embers are hot and covered with ash. Move all the charcoal to one side of the barbecue to create two distinct heat zones.
Step 2. Arrange the spicy sausages on the grill
Do not place them directly on the embers or they will burn on the outside before they are cooked on the inside. Close the barbecue if it has a lid.
Step 3. Grill the sausages for 8-10 minutes
You will need to turn them frequently as they cook. Every 2-3 minutes, open the lid and rotate them on themselves to evenly expose them to heat. After 8-10 minutes they should be cooked through and developed a nice charred color that will make them even more appetizing.
Step 4. Serve the sausages
Remove them one at a time from the grill and place them directly on the bread so that it absorbs the juices. Add your favorite ingredients and sauces, such as a coleslaw, some pickles, mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, mustard or ketchup.
Although unlikely, if the sausages are left over, you can put them in an airtight container and refrigerate them for 2-3 days
Method 2 of 4: Microwave Spicy Sausages
Step 1. Put your sausage on a plate
It must be suitable for use in the microwave. Cover the sausage with a paper towel.
Even if you have guests, it's best to cook one sausage at a time to make sure it's cooked evenly
Step 2. Cook the sausage for 30-35 seconds
You need to hear it sizzle and see it swell slightly as it heats and cooks.
Step 3. Let it sit for a minute
Turn off the microwave and let the sausage rest for 60 seconds before taking it out of the oven.
Step 4. Eat the spicy sausage
Wear oven mitts so you don't risk getting burned by touching the hot plate. Serve or eat the sausage immediately. You can put it in a sandwich cut in half and add your favorite ingredients. Alternatively, you can cut it into small pieces and use it to make a stew or pasta sauce.
If the spicy sausages are left over, you can place them in an airtight container and refrigerate them for 2-3 days
Method 3 of 4: Bake Spicy Sausages in the Oven
Step 1. Turn on the oven and prepare the pan
The baking sheet must have a grid inside, this way the fat will drain to the bottom instead of remaining in contact with the sausages. Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and wait until it is hot.
Step 2. Separate the sausages if they are joined together with string
If they are tied together, divide them using a sharp knife or sturdy pair of scissors.
Step 3. Arrange the sausages on the wire rack in the pan
In this case you can cook several at the same time, the important thing is that there is a few centimeters of free space between one and the other so that they can cook evenly.
Step 4. Cook the spicy sausages in the oven for 10 minutes
Place the pan in the hot oven and start the kitchen timer.
Step 5. Flip the sausages and cook for another 10 minutes
Put on your oven mitts and take the pan out for a few moments. Flip the sausages using the tongs to avoid burning yourself. Let them cook until they have a nice uniform charred color. In total, about 20 minutes should be enough.
Step 6. Serve the sausages
Put on your oven mitts again and take the pan out. Be careful not to risk spilling the grease that has accumulated on the bottom. Serve the spicy sausages with one of your favorite side dishes or use them as part of another recipe.
If the sausages are left over, you can place them in an airtight container and refrigerate them for 2-3 days
Method 4 of 4: Boil the Sausages
Step 1. Pour 150ml water into a pan and bring it to a boil
Use a skillet that can easily hold all the sausages. Put the pan on the stove and heat the water over high heat.
Step 2. Add the sausages and reduce the heat
When the water boils, carefully place the sausages in the pan. They must not overlap with each other. Reduce the heat to make the water just simmer.
Step 3. Let the sausages simmer for 5-6 minutes
Cover the pan with the lid and let the sausages cook in the boiling water for 5 or 6 minutes.
Step 4. Flip the sausages and continue cooking
Lift the lid while wearing the oven mitt, flip the sausages over with the kitchen tongs and finally cover the pan again. Let the spicy sausages simmer for another 5 to 6 minutes over low heat.
Step 5. Brown the sausages
If you prefer them to have a crisp, golden crust on the outside, throw away the cooking water and cook the sausages in the pan for another 3-4 minutes over medium heat. Do not lose sight of them and turn them at regular intervals to brown them on all sides.
Step 6. Serve the sausages
Transfer them to plates and bring them to the table while still warm. You can store any leftovers in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
