Warren Buffett is renowned for his success as an investor and is also known for his commitment as a philanthropist. If you wish to contact them, your options are limited and a response is never guaranteed. Despite this, if you are determined to contact him with an investment proposal, a charity request or other purposes, there are some methods you could try.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Through Berkshire Hathaway Inc
Step 1. Write him a letter
The only publicly available e-mail address is the address of his company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Warren Buffett is the president and CEO of the company.
-
Send your letters to:
- Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
- 3555 Farnam Street
- Suite 1440
- Omaha, NE 68131
- Contact Warren Buffett in your letter. He will not open it directly, but his employees may open it and read your letter, knowing that you wish to speak to Mr. Buffett.
Step 2. Send them an email
Even though Warren Buffett does not have a personal email address and apparently does not check the Berkshire Hathaway email address, there is a chance that a message sent to Berkshire Hathaway will be shown to Warren Buffett if its content is enough. Interesting.
- This is the e-mail address: [email protected]
- Note that there is a disclaimer on the site stating that the staff at the company's office are unable to provide a direct response to e-mails.
- The above email address should not be used to send comments relating to the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. site. Use this method only as a last resort to contact Warren Buffett; try sending a paper letter first, if possible.
Step 3. Know what to expect
If you write to Mr. Buffett through Berkshire Hathaway, your letter may not reach him personally. He receives approximately 250-300 letters each day, each of which is filtered by various staff members before arriving at his desk.
- Spam is rarely answered. This includes personal emails, charity requests, and most investment proposals.
- If you need to make a charity request, contact Buffett through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is a board member and works with the Gates, providing strategies for charitable projects.
Step 4. Know what to write
The only way you can get a response from Warren Buffett is to write an investment proposal that meets all the requirements and criteria outlined in Warren Buffett's annual letter sent to its shareholders.
- You can find the letter to shareholders here:
-
While the acquisition criterion may change from year to year, very often company representatives must adhere to the following standards with regard to the proposal:
- The acquisition must be of large proportions.
- The company must have demonstrated substantial earning potential.
- The company must earn good income on the initial investment, with minimal or no debt.
- Management must have already been defined.
- The proposal must be simple.
- The proposal must be accompanied by an offer price.
Step 5. Note the missing pieces
There is no phone number or fax number to reach Warren Buffett or Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
Method 2 of 4: Through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
Step 1. Contact the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for charity requests
Warren Buffett is a member of the foundation's board of directors and has considerable influence in the organization. Additionally, most of his charitable donations are made through this foundation.
- Note that most spam is unanswered, so you may not receive a reply letter.
- When writing to the foundation, you should use the heading "To Whom it May Concern". Warren Buffett isn't directly involved in checking foundation emails, and neither is Bill or Melinda Gates.
- In the first few paragraphs of the message body, indicate that you would like the letter to be forwarded to Warren Buffett!
Step 2. Send an email
You can contact the foundation at the following e-mail address: [email protected]
Note that this email address is one of the recommended methods for contacting the foundation regarding donations
Step 3. Call the phone and request a donation
If you cannot send the e-mail, you can contact the foundation by telephone at: 206-709-3140.
Before calling or sending an email with your request, we strongly recommend that you review the FAQ for Foundation applicants:

You can do this over the phone or by letter.
-
The main office address is:
- 500 Fifth Avenue North

-
The postal address is:

Step 7. Contact one of his other offices

- The Chinese office telephone number is: 011-86-10-8454-7500
- The telephone number of the Indian office is: 011-91-11-4713-8800
Method 3 of 4: Method three: social media
Step 1. Tweet
You can find Buffet's Twitter account at:
- Note that his Twitter page is not updated frequently and it may take some time for him to see your Twit. Even when you've seen it, don't expect answers.
- This method is only suitable for leaving a quick comment that requires no response.
Step 2. Like us on Facebook
Warren Buffett's official Facebook page can be found at:
- As with the Twitter page, Warren Buffett doesn't check or update his Facebook page very often. In fact, it's unknown if you actually ever control it. If you have decided to use Facebook as a method of contacting him, send only short comments or notes that do not require replies.
- You may need to "Like" before you have to post on his wall.
Method 4 of 4: Meet Him in Person
Step 1. Enroll in an MBA program
While obtaining a Master of Business Administration degree is not guaranteed, you will be able to meet Warren Buffet - which is definitely the best way to talk to him in person.
- Six times a year, Warren Buffet invites business students from 45 universities to his office in Omaha, Nebraska.
- During these visits, students interact with him during a 90-minute question and answer session. After that, Mr. Buffett invites the students to lunch.
- Each university can send 20 students, and of those students, 30% or more must be women.
Step 2. Attend his annual conference
Warren Buffett holds a conference for his shareholders once a year. You can hear him, but the chances of you meeting him in person or talking to him are low.
- The conference is typically on the first Saturday in May.
