Post-its usually help to remember something. If you have a Mac, you can use Dashboard reminders to remind you of an appointment, a task to do, or write a note. This article offers some tips on how to create your own reminder.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Creating the Reminder
Step 1. Access the dashboard by pressing the F2 key on the keyboard
- If the dashboard is present on your dock, just click on this application to access it.
- To set the dashboard on the dock, just open the Finder, click on Applications, and drag the dashboard icon to the dock.
- If the dashboard is already set as space, you can swipe right to left on the trackpad with 3 or 4 fingers to access it.
Step 2. Press the + button at the bottom left
A menu will open.
Step 3. Choose "Reminder" from the options
A post-it will appear on the screen as soon as you click
Step 4. Click on the “X” in the lower left corner of the screen, which is in the upper left corner of the menu panel
Part 2 of 3: Changing the color of your Reminder
Step 1. Click on the “i” in the lower right corner of the post-it
Once clicked, the reminder rotates, and displays some options, including color options
Step 2. Choose the color you prefer for the memo
Step 3. Click on “Finish”
Step 4. Close the menu by clicking on the X in the upper left corner of the menu panel
Part 3 of 3: Changing the Font and Text Size
Step 1. Click again on the “i”, to access the menu again
Step 2. Change the font, or its size, by choosing from the two drop-down menus
The two combo boxes are located below the color options.
Step 3. Click on “Finish”
Step 4. Now, you can write your memo
Advice
- You can place your memo wherever you like, just select it, and holding down, drag it to the chosen point.
- To set the font size automatically, select the "Auto" option from the drop-down menu.
- For any change to the color, you just have to click on the “i”, and choose the new color.
- If you no longer need the post-it note, just click on the X in the upper left corner of the memo itself.
- If any command does not work, check the settings of the "Dashboard Preferences" by right clicking on its icon.
