This article explains how to find the IP address of a WiFi router on Windows 10 or macOS. The IP address of the router is required to access its configuration page in order to modify and view its settings.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On Windows
Step 1. Open the "Start" menu
Click on the Windows logo at the bottom left to open the "Start" menu.
Step 2. Click on
The gear icon is located in the left column of the "Start" menu. This will open the "Settings" menu.
Step 3. Click on "Network and Internet"
It is the third option on the page.
Step 4. Click View Network Properties
It is located at the bottom of the page, under the "Network Troubleshooting" option.
Step 5. Look for the number next to "Default Gateway"
This number is the IP address of your router.
The IP address can be typed into a browser to access the router settings. Check the manufacturer's website if you don't know the device's login information
Method 2 of 2: On Mac
Step 1. Click on
The icon looks like an apple and is located at the top left of the menu bar. A drop-down menu will open.
Step 2. Click on System Preferences
It is the second option in the drop-down menu.
Step 3. Click on Network
The icon looks like a dark blue sphere crossed by lines.
Step 4. Click on Advanced
It is located at the bottom of the right panel.
Don't see this option? First make sure you click on your current network connection on the left
Step 5. Click on TCP / IP
It is located in the bar at the top of the window. The router's IP address will appear next to "Router".
