Facebook is inundated with all kinds of sensibilities and opinions. You agree with some, not much with others, but live and let live. But sometimes you see something that is really offensive. If it is on your page, you can easily delete it, stop following the offensive person, or even remove the friend from him. But when do you want at any cost to take a stand against a vulgar image, a status message, an insensitive comment or, as often happens, against spam? Report these messages!
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Report a Photo or Video
Step 1. Click on the photo or video
The message will open to show you the available options.
Step 2. Go to “Options”
A small window will open with the actions you can choose from.
Step 3. Click on “Report”
This will open another window that will ask you why you are reporting the photo or video.
Step 4. Select the reason that fits your case
Facebook gives you a list of reasons why the post would be undesirable:
- I don't like this photo in which I appear;
- I don't think it has to be on Facebook;
- It is spam.
Step 5. Let Facebook do the rest
After finishing the process, wait for the Facebook team to review your report and take action.
Part 2 of 3: Reporting an Inappropriate Post on the Bulletin Board
Step 1. Go to the board
It can be yours, a friend's or even a page. Look for the post that bothered you. It can be a vulgar status message, a hate speech, a threat, spam, or intimidating language towards someone.
Step 2. Hover over the offensive post
A down arrow will appear in the upper right corner of the message.
Step 3. Select “I don't like this post”
The post will no longer be visible to you and you will have the possibility to specify a reason why the message is not desirable, choosing between: "It bothers me or it is not interesting", "I am in this photo and I do not like", " I don't think it has to be on Facebook "," It's spam ". Meanwhile, Facebook will investigate.
Part 3 of 3: Reporting an Inappropriate Post in the News
Step 1. Click on the icon with the down arrow
All the news in the home already have the arrow visible at the top right of the post. By clicking on it you will see a menu with various actions available.
Step 2. Select the action that's right for you
The options in this section are quite different from those on the board. In any case, there is at least one option to hide the post:
- I don't want to see this content;
- It is spam;
- Stop following [person's name / page];
- Hide all posts by [person's name / page].
Step 3. Fix the problem
Obviously if you click “I don't want to see this content” Facebook will want to know why. The post will be minimized and a window will appear containing the reasons to choose from.
Advice
- Do not abuse the privilege of reporting. Even though Facebook has a dedicated 24/7 team that takes reporting seriously, things you don't like don't always constitute a violation of Facebook's terms.
- Be insightful, because many things are relative. For example, what you may consider vulgar to others may be considered art.
- You can raise your concerns without reporting. Facebook recommends that you simply hide the post from the news, write to the person who posted or shared it why it is bothering you, or you can remove it from friends or block it completely.
- The advantage of Facebook is that it notices the things you don't want to see, manipulating the algorithm so that those contents no longer appear in the news.
