This article explains how to open the WhatsApp "Settings" menu to customize your account and application preferences using an Android device.
Steps
Step 1. Open WhatsApp on the Android device
The icon looks like a green dialogue bubble with a white telephone handset inside it.
If a particular conversation opens, press the button to go back in the upper left corner, in order to display the chat list again
Step 2. Click on the menu icon
This button has three vertical dots and is located in the upper right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Click on Settings
This option is located at the bottom of the drop-down menu and allows you to open the page dedicated to WhatsApp settings.
Step 4. Select a category to change settings
You will be given the option to review and change the settings divided into five categories: "Account", "Chat", "Notifications", "Data usage and storage" and "Contacts".
- In the section Account you will find several options. In the "Privacy" section you can change your privacy settings to determine who can view your personal information and read receipts. In the "Security" and "Two-Step Verification" section you can optimize the security level of your account. There are also other sections that allow you to change the associated phone number or delete the account.
- In the section Chat you can customize the font size and background you use in your conversations; You can also back up your chats and view, delete or archive your chat history. This menu also offers the option to enable or disable the function of the Enter key on the keyboard.
- In the section Notifications you can activate or deactivate the "Conversation tones" and the "Pop-up notifications", select a ringtone for messages and calls in the "Notification tones" area, configure the "Vibration" and "Light" options.
- In the section Data use and storage you can view network usage details, configure preferences associated with automatic media download, and limit data usage for incoming and outgoing calls.
- In the section Contacts you can invite a friend on WhatsApp or activate the "Show all contacts" feature to see the hidden ones.
Step 5. Click on Help
This option is found at the bottom of the settings menu. Inside, you can read the "FAQ", the "Terms and privacy" of WhatsApp and visit the "Info app" page to find out about the product licenses. The "Help" section also allows you to check the current system status and contact WhatsApp if you have a problem.
