When we are sick, our voice is certainly not at its best. If, despite being sick, you still need to sing, be good with your voice and follow these steps to relieve the stress.
Steps
Step 1. Start the day with large doses of Vitamin C without drinking anything acidic (such as freshly squeezed orange juice)
Vitamin C tablets will be for you.
Step 2. First warm your voice without singing
Practice simply speaking in different tones. It will work just the same. Don't worry about wanting to sing up to 2 or 3 hours before the audition.
Step 3. 4 hours before the audition:
drink a hot (not hot!) herbal tea with honey and lemon. The honey will coat the walls of the throat, preventing damage to the voice.
Step 4. 2 hours before the audition:
drink water at room temperature and practice singing what you need to.
Step 5. Stop exercising one hour before the audition
If you are really very nervous, chanting once or twice will not be harmful.
Advice
- If you are congested, your singing can be affected. Chew a peppermint chewing gum, eat a packet of balsamic candies, or drink herbal tea while exercising and before the performance, it might come in handy.
- The mind is very powerful, especially in singing, and if you can't get your mind to believe that all the precautions taken will allow you to perform perfectly, it will.
- Don't let the jury know you're sick unless they ask you for it themselves. Hopefully they will notice and take it into account.
- It should be noted that if you can sing competently with your chest voice (diaphragm etc.) a simple stuffy nose won't make much difference, so don't worry too much in advance!
- If you have a stuffy nose, pinch one nostril and inhale quickly through the open one as if you were sniffing with purpose.
