If using your computer to play your favorite video game, you want to avoid having to insert the CD into the optical drive of the machine, you can use what are called 'images', that is a backup copy of the video game exactly identical to the contents of the physical disc. The image file can be easily stored on the computer hard drive and used to start the game instead of the CD. Furthermore, the image file can be used to create countless identical copies of the original CD.
Steps
Step 1. The contents of a CD-ROM disc can be stored inside a hard drive using what are called 'image files'
These file types include formats '*.iso', '*.mds / *. mdf' And '*.bin / *. cue'. So for example the video game 'Halo' would most likely be stored as 'Halo.iso'.
Step 2. Create an ISO image file of the game in question
To do this you will need to use a special software.
Step 3. Install an ISO file creation program
You can install the software of your choice, then follow the instructions for the wizard for creating an image file from a CD. The resulting ISO file will be stored in an easily accessible folder on your computer's hard drive.
Step 4. Mount the image file using a virtual drive
By virtual drive we mean an optical CD / DVD reader not physically present in the computer, 'virtualized' by a special software that communicates with the computer operating system as if it were a real optical reader. This virtual optical drive can read an ISO file as if it were physical optical media. As a result of all this process, your computer will not find any difference between the ISO file 'mounted' on the virtual drive and the physical CD inserted in the CD-ROM drive.
Step 5. Log in to the virtual drive and start the game normally
