Being sick or having a cold is horrible. There is nothing worse than locking yourself indoors all day. Read below the best tips to help you feel like you deserve …
Steps
Step 1. Make a hot drink
This includes hot chocolate, coffee etc. Nose drainage often irritates the throat at night. Drinking a cup of broth first thing in the morning will help get rid of mucus and make your throat feel better in no time.
Step 2. Take a warm shower or bath
It will make you relax and is very important to get better. A bath is ideal, but a hot or scalding shower is fine too. You can add aromatherapy products; some, such as eucalyptus, are useful for relieving congestion or other symptoms.
Step 3. Put on your pajamas
When you are sick, you don't have to work. You just have to relax and get comfortable. This implies removing any stimuli, such as computers and video games. Using electronic devices and even reading for too long can tire your eyes and cause headaches.
Step 4. Go to sleep
Get plenty of sleep. Make sure you have blankets and pillows. Sleep in layers if the temperature isn't stable. Also, keep a pack of tissues and a waste basket by the bed. This way you can easily blow your nose and throw away the tissues.
Step 5. Take some saline nasal spray against dryness and congestion
It may sound disgusting, but it's cheap, found in every pharmacy and works wonders. Follow the instructions and try blowing your nose a few minutes later. It will be much more effective and you will find that the nasal passages will remain free for a while!
Step 6. Drink tea with lots of honey
Honey lines the throat and prevents dry cough.
