Uber is an on demand taxi service that allows you to book a private driver through an application available on iPhone and Android devices. The service uses a program that can send you the driver closest to your location. Don't think it's car sharing or a traditional taxi service - Uber provides you with a private taxi-style car, allowing you to pay directly with the credit card linked to your account.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Sign up for Uber

Step 1. Visit the Uber website

This company allows you to book a personal driver in all the cities where it operates. Visit uber.com on your browser.

Step 2. Click on "Sign up", under "Travel with Uber"

You will be asked to create an account. A valid credit card or Paypal account is required to use Uber services.

Step 3. Enter your first and last name

Step 4. Enter your phone number

Drivers will use your number to contact you when they are near the pick-up point if they can't find you. It can also be useful for accessing your account.

Step 7. Enter a promotional code (if you have one)

Part 2 of 2: Book a Driver

Step 1. Open the Uber app

If you don't have the app yet, download it from the Apple Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android)

uberPool: it is a car sharing service that allows you to share the trip with a stranger, in order to save money.
uberX: This option sends a regular car that can hold up to four people to your location. This is the most common service offered by the company.
Select: they are normal cars, but of better quality than those of the uberX group.
Black: This service sends a four-seater luxury black sedan to your location.
XL: This service will send a larger car that can accommodate up to 6 people.
SUV: This service will send an SUV that can accommodate up to 6 people.
Assist: allows you to book a specially designated service car to pick up people who have physical mobility problems.
WAV: These vehicles are equipped with ramps so that a wheelchair can be loaded on board.

Step 4. Confirm the number of seats you need (uberPool)

If you have chosen uberPool, you can book one or two seats. If you need more, use uberX instead.

Step 5. Check the price

You will see it under each type of vehicle. The rate is based on the traffic present at the time and the number of requests. The price you see represents the amount you will pay for the trip to the nearest hundredth.

Advance payment is not available for all types of transportation. Some vehicles only offer fare estimates.
Uber fares are based on a combination of time taken and distance traveled. If the car travels at less than 16 km / h, you will pay by the minute, while if it travels at more than 16 km / h, you will pay per kilometer. The price also includes a fixed base, which varies according to your location. Fares are different in each city, so be sure to check Uber's website or use an online estimation service. There is a minimum fee for all cities.

Step 6. Press "Request Uber" to reserve the car

Press "Confirm booking" to set your location and request the driver.

Step 8. Wait in front of the exact address you gave the driver

Do not go back to the office if you are waiting for the car and do not walk to another location, as the driver would not be able to find you and you would waste precious time (at your expense). You will receive an estimate of the time it will take for the car to arrive. If there are no cars available, try again after a few minutes, as a driver may have just unloaded a passenger and be free.

The Uber app gives you the driver's phone number. You can decide to contact him if you need to communicate something important to him.
If you have to cancel your booking after more than five minutes from the request, 5-10 € will be charged to your account.
Average arrival times vary by city, time and volume of requests.

Step 9. Pay through the Uber app

All payments are handled automatically by the app and your registered credit card. If you are using the TAXI service, you can choose the amount of the tip through the Uber Payment Settings; the default percentage is 20%.

You don't need to tip for other Uber services, including UberX, but tips are appreciated. Note that tips are not included in your payments for services other than TAXI.
You can also change the default tip for the TAXI service from the Uber website. Log in and open the "Payments" section to change the tip.

Step 10. Rate your trip

You will be asked to rate your trip after reaching your destination. Bear in mind that a rating of four stars or lower is detrimental to the driver and will limit the number of drivers available the next time you ask for service. Uber only considers five-star ratings to be positive.

Advice

You can cancel your reservation by scrolling up on your driver information page and pressing "Cancel". If you do it within 5 minutes of booking, you will avoid paying the € 10 penalty.
UberTAXI drivers don't work directly for Uber, but pay a percentage of their profits to the service to appear on the app.
When using the UberTAXI service, a 20% gratuity is included in the cost of the trip, an agreement between Uber and existing taxi companies. However, if you're using UberX, UberBlack, or UberSUV services, you don't have the option to include a tip for your driver.
Consider that traveling with the UberPool service, it will take longer to reach your destination, because the driver may have to pick up other passengers, you will be in the company of people you do not know and you will NOT be able to choose in which order the people present will be accompanied. Also, the driver will receive a lower amount, so this is NOT the best choice if you are interested in quality of service.
