Do you wish you could hang in the air and fly around yourself without having to die first? Are you looking forward to leaving your body at home to be able to explore the cosmos freely? These out-of-body experiences appear to take place during dreams, near death, or during the process of extreme relaxation such as meditation. Having one of these experiences may seem to some like being Alice in your own wonderland. Read on to learn how to intentionally cause them.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Prepare the Mind and Body
Step 1. Find a quiet place that feels relaxing to you
It doesn't matter if it is indoors or outdoors, the important thing is that you feel comfortable. Make sure you are not interrupted. Out-of-body experiences are most common in the morning between 4 and 6. Don't try this at night, as it's very easy to just fall asleep eventually.
Step 2. Find a comfortable position, whether standing or lying down
Many choose to lie on their back, but beware that falling asleep in this position promotes temporary sleep paralysis.
Step 3. Confirm to yourself that you are about to have an out-of-body experience
Repeat to yourself "Mind awake-Body asleep" or "I will have a lucid dream" until you have memorized it.
Step 4. Close your eyes and relax
Gradually become less aware of your surroundings. Clear your mind by freeing it from thoughts and ideas. Meditative techniques can be helpful in clearing the mind while remaining focused and aware.
Step 5. Allow yourself to fall asleep almost completely
Effective sleep would hinder the result. Allow yourself to be transported into a state of sleep as you focus on being aware of your feelings and state of mind.
Method 2 of 4: Check Your Vibrations
Step 1. Feel a vibrant sensation in the body
As you relax, you become more and more aware of what is going on in your body and mind, ignoring whatever is happening in the room around you. Try to feel the vibration of your body coming from the heartbeats, the breath and the individual movements of each of your cells. Imagine hearing the sound of vibrations comparing it to that of the wind. The desire to move at this point will be very intense, especially as this is your first experience. Try your best to relax deeper and deeper, but without falling asleep, until the sound stops.
Step 2. Try slowing down the vibration
Visualize the movements of the body as they slow down, feel the sounds and sensations caused by the vibrations gradually fade away. In a short time silence will fall and your body will be completely still.
Step 3. Let your body go into a state of paralysis
Some people describe the sensation by comparing it to having a heavy blanket spread over the body. You may suddenly find that you cannot move your limbs. Don't panic! By forcing movement, you may wake up. You will still be able to move your eyes, mouth, nose and face, so try to change their position slightly.
Method 3 of 4: Leave Your Body with the Rope Method
Step 1. Feel your hands grasping an invisible rope
Don't actually move your hands and don't try to visualize the string. The string method is based on the ability to feel the string rather than mentally imagining it. Focus on the texture, thickness and strength of the rope. Feel the effort of the arms, the tension of the rope and the presence of your weight.
If you have difficulty using the rope technique, try imagining a ladder. Some people find it easier, especially if they are more used to climbing using a ladder rather than a rope
Step 2. Use the rope to lift yourself up and back up
Feel the contraction of your muscles and your body moving towards each other as you pull the rope towards you. Do not visualize, imagine that you are doing it in complete darkness. Keep climbing. You will soon find yourself out of your body, triggering astral projection.
- If you feel vibrations during the separation phase it is recommended to try to relax more deeply, otherwise you will spend more energy than necessary making the operation even more difficult.
- In case of difficulty, try to rise as you inhale and rest as you exhale.
- The rope method is a more practical variation of the better known technique of visualizing oneself floating out of the body. While cinematically, instantaneously floating out of the body can be more impactful, not everyone might find this technique effective in real life.
Step 3. Open your astral eyes
When you are aware that you are outside your body, open your eyes. You should be able to see your room, while your body lies asleep in bed with your eyes still closed.
If you wish, initially try opening your third eye, positioned in the center of the forehead, slightly higher than the eyebrows
Method 4 of 4: Leave Your Body with the Perspective Change Method
Step 1. View every detail of the environment around you
Before lying down, take a close look at the room around you. Then try to recall the images and sensations in your mind, focusing on the shape of each object in the room as seen from the position you are in.
Step 2. Now visualize the surrounding space observed from a different point in the room
When you have a clear picture of the room in your mind, change the perspective to try to view it from a different vantage point, as if you were standing on or next to your body. Somehow you should already feel that you have left your body.
Step 3. Lift up from your body to where you were viewing
Stay completely relaxed, but be persuasive in your willingness to move slowly towards that point. Feel yourself lifting up and crossing the space beside you as your perspective changes. Then open your astral eyes.
Advice
- Keep calm. If you get excited you will be catapulted into the physical world. When you feel that arousal is taking over, focus on one point, such as your hands or a wall.
- DO NOT MOVE. If you do, you will ruin the whole process. Any need you may feel to move is simply your body asking the mind if it is sleeping, if you can ignore it the body will think that the mind is sleeping and will fall asleep as a result. This step is crucial.
- Another method is to focus on a point on the ceiling and visualize the dot crawl down from the ceiling along the wall, the floor until it reaches the bottom of where you are. This will cause your astral body to rotate within the physical body, and its subsequent jolt.
- Be patient if you can't get results right away.
- Why not get out of your body during the vibrations? Because you would be wasting a lot of precious energy that would make your out-of-body experience short and confusing. As you relax more deeply, the vibrations will disappear, allowing you to exit your body using a minimal amount of energy.
- Try covering your eyes with a blindfold.
- If you get lost in the Astral Planet don't worry, your physical body cannot ignore its natural needs. If at some point he is hungry it will cause the astral body to reenter the physical world and make you wake up.
Warnings
- Looking at your physical body can be a shock, even when you think you're ready to do it. The shock will take you straight to your physical body, so be careful.
- Some believe that the world is filled with spirits, and that others may be encountered, sometimes even angels or demons. If you believe in this kind of thing, and you think they will appear to you in a dream… it is very likely that they will. If your mind is full of negative thoughts, during your astral journey, you may encounter a dangerous or annoying entity. If you encounter an evil entity, ask them to leave because you are in charge. Alternatively, you can return to your physical body, or ignore it, which she will not like.
- Keep in mind that only you can turn this experience into a nightmare. Avoid thinking about negative things and if you are afraid, don't do it.
