Important birthdays require appropriate celebrations, and the White House agrees with this. Veterans over 70 and US citizens over 80 can request a birthday card from the President. You can submit your request by email, phone or post, but remember to do so 6 to 10 weeks before your birthday.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Request by email
Step 1. Go to the White House website whitehouse.gov
Click on the icon that reads "Send Questions & Comments".
Step 2. Click on “Submit Online Comments”
You will be redirected to an online form.
Step 3. Indicate that you are trying to contact “The White House / The President” in the first drop-down menu
Step 4. Enter your name, email address, telephone number and address
Step 5. Complete the comment box
Write that you are requesting greetings from the President. Include the name of the person you wish to wish, their date of birth, if they are a veteran, and their home address.
Step 6. Fill in the security question and then click on “Submit”
You should receive a confirmation email.
Method 2 of 3: Request by mail
Step 1. Write a letter requesting that the current President send a happy birthday card to a person who is about to turn a birthday
Make sure you include your name, address and telephone number.
Step 2. Write the details in the letter
Include the name of the birthday boy / girl, address, age (which must be over 70 for veterans and over 80 for anyone else) and date of birth.
Step 3. Sign the letter
Put it in an envelope and apply postage.
Step 4. Write the recipient's address:
"The White House, Attn: Greetings Office, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500."
Step 5. Send the letter 6 to 10 weeks before the birthday
Method 3 of 3: Request by phone
Step 1. Collect information about the person you wish to greet and their birthday
Make sure you have the full name, date of birth and home address.
Step 2. Call the White House at 1-202-456-1414
When you get in touch with the switchboard, ask to speak to the greetings department.
Step 3. Listen to the recording explaining the rules of the department
Then, submit your request, including your name, address, telephone number and the date of birth, name and address of the person you wish to send your greetings to.
Step 4. If you are having trouble contacting by phone, request greetings online or by mail
Remember to call at least 6 weeks before the birthday.
