"The Sims 3" is the third installment of the saga and it is a virtual transposition of real life. The main goal of the game is to make your Sims happy by achieving their individual goals. One way to satisfy their happiness is to find them a partner. If your Sim is single and you think they deserve someone by their side, then this is the article you were looking for!
Steps
Step 1. Look for the approach with a Sim you would like a stable relationship with
There are a lot of interesting Sims around. Make sure you find a Sim who has a personality that matches yours, like:
- Artistic
- Athletic
- and other!
Step 2. If you just met the right one, click on social interaction, "Friendly greeting" or whatever
Instead of greeting him rudely, giving him a friendly greeting (if you don't know each other) will have many positive effects on your relationship. If you have a high level of Charisma, then use a more convenient greeting, such as "Winking Greeting" or "Loving Greeting".
Step 3. Find out what personalities this Sim has
Go to the 'Friendship' section and then 'Acquaintance' to find out more.
Step 4. Behave with him affably until you become Friends
Start at the Acquaintance level for each Sim (unless they are family members). Use cordial gestures available in the 'Friendship' option. Make sure your Sim doesn't always do the same thing every time, or the Sim you try to impress will get bored. Also, if the other Sim takes on the 'Don't Flirt' or 'Snob' trait, then it might be better to become Best Friends before moving on to the next level. Be Best Friend even if your own Sim isn't used to being romantic.
Step 5. Go to the 'Romance' option and click on 'Ask if you are single' to find out (read the "Tips" for making him single, if he is in a relationship)
Step 6. Once you have reached Friendship, try to do something by interacting in the 'Romantic' option to see if the Sim likes it or not
Some like it and some don't. If he doesn't like it, go back to the 'Friendship' and 'Apologize' options. However, sometimes an apology will not be enough and you will only worry the other Sim. In such cases, go back to other social interactions until your Sim stops seeing you as intrusive.
Step 7. Go back to the 'Friendship' option and continue to behave friendly, until the 'Ask to live with you' option appears
Then click and see what this Sim says. Chances are he will say yes.
Step 8. If the Sim accepts, move to your home in the Move menu that will appear
If you don't want your partner to be in the same house, skip these 2 steps.
Step 9. Go to the 'Romantic' option with the Sim you met and do something light, like 'Flirt' or 'Appearance / Personality Compliment'
If the Sim responds positively, continue with the romantic interactions (use different ones each time - the 'Incurable romantic' or similar traits will offer more options in this menu).
Step 10. Once the bubble in the top left corner says '[Sim name] thinks [Sim name] is absolutely irresistible', there should be an interaction that says 'Confess the attraction'
Click above. The relationship will change from 'Friends' or 'Best Friends' to 'Romantic Interest'.
Step 11. Use other romantic interactions
Wait for the 'Propose stable relationship' to appear.
Step 12. Click on that option and you'll be engaged
Advice
- Once the relationship has improved, the option to propose marriage will appear. Click this button to make the proposal - if it goes well, the Sims will be engaged and can organize the reception or a private ceremony for the exchange of faiths and the wedding.
- Have a chat and find out what Sims like and don't like. If a Sim has the 'Sense of Humor' trait, then do things in the "Fun" area when you get to know each other. This will fill the bar faster. If this Sim has the 'No sense of humor' trait, then the fun activities will be much less useful.
- Find a Sim with the "Great Kisser" trait. It will boost your good mood when he kisses you. Try to avoid Sims who 'don't flirt', as their romance options are very limited and they often reject your romantic advances.
- If you started when the day is drawing to a close, your Sim will most likely go home for the night, or if it's daytime, they may need to go to work. However, you can invite people over at any time. Try to make them 'Friends' - friends are more likely to agree to visit. But remember - never call a Sim between 10pm and 6am, or they will automatically say no.
- If the Sim you want is already married / engaged, you can check out their home in the "Edit Town" mode. Find your partner if you live in another house, invite him and make sure they separate. Then go back to your house and invite the Sim of your wishes, who should have become single in the meantime. Alternatively, you can still use your Sim - if you have already reached the "Romantic Interest" level - by making them act in a romantic way and then simply asking to 'Leave - Sim's name -' between friendship or romantic actions. A notification should appear in the corner, on which something like "You know, you're right … Things between me and - Sim's name - don't work anymore". The future spouse will have an ex-wife or husband and the Sim will have a new enemy.
- Some mods can be downloaded to be able to set the relationship between two Sims (such as Friends, Enemies, Husband / Wife, Boyfriends …), limiting the effort of having to do it manually.
- If you feel you need to break up a relationship, choose the 'Separation' option. In this way you can get closer to the dream of a lifetime: 'Heartbreaker'.
Warnings
- Being romantic too soon will most likely end up frightening the other Sim, who may reject many of your actions, which are difficult to recover later (unless you have a high level of charisma).
- SOME MODS CAN DEFINITELY DAMAGE OR CORRUPT YOUR GAME. Most mods also require that a completely new version be downloaded every time the game is rigged, which can prove to be cumbersome to do. Always download mods from a safe and well-known site, such as 'nraas' (https://nraas.wikispaces.com/). Others can also be found online.
