This guide explains how to create a new Facebook account after logging out of the old one. You can do this on both the computer version of Facebook and the mobile version. If you want to use the email associated with your previous account also for the new one, you will need to delete your profile and wait for it to be completely deleted before creating the new one.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Create an Account on a Mobile Device
Step 1. Start Facebook
Press the app icon, which looks like a dark blue square with a white f. If you are already logged in, the News Section will open.
If you are not logged in to Facebook, skip to the "Click on Join Facebook" step
Step 2. Click on ☰
You will see this button in the lower right corner of the screen (iPhone) or in the upper right corner.
Step 3. Scroll down and hit Exit
It is the last option on the menu.
Step 4. Click on Join Facebook
This link is at the bottom of the screen.
Step 5. Click on To Begin
This blue button will appear in the center of the window.
Step 6. Enter your email
Press on the text field Enter your email address, then type the email you want to use.
Step 7. Click on Continue
It is located under the e-mail address field.
Step 8. Add first and last name
Click on the Name field, type in your name, then click on Surname and enter your surname.
Step 9. Click Continue
Step 10. Create a password
Click on the Password field, then type in the access key you wish to use.
Step 11. Click Continue
Step 12. Set your birthday
Select month, day and year of birth.
Step 13. Click Continue
Step 14. Select your gender
Tap on Male or Female. Once this last step is completed, your profile will be created.
- While there are no Other or Prefer not to reply options, you can hide your gender from your profile later.
- If you are asked for a verification code, open the e-mail box you used to create your Facebook account, look for the code in the subject line of the message you received from Facebook and enter it on the site.
Method 2 of 2: Create a Computer Account
Step 1. Log into Facebook
Visit this address. If you are logged in, the News Section will open.
If you are not logged in to Facebook, go to the Enter your first and last name step
Step 2. Click on
You will see this small triangle on the right side of the dark blue bar located at the top of the Facebook page. Press it and a drop-down menu will open.
Step 3. Click on Exit
This is the last menu item you just opened. Select it and you will log out of your Facebook account.
Step 4. Enter your first and last name
Type your name in the First Name field of the Sign Up section of the page, then type your last name in the Last Name field.
Step 5. Add your email
Type a working email address that you have access to in the Phone number or email field, then repeat the address in the Enter email again field below.
Step 6. Enter a password
Type the passkey you wish to use in the "New password" text field.
Step 7. Set your birthday
Click on the day button and select your birthday, then repeat this for the month and year.
Step 8. Select a gender
Click on Male or Female at the bottom of the Sign Up section.
Facebook doesn't currently offer the option to select Other as a gender, but you can hide this information from your profile later if needed
Step 9. Click Create Account
You will see this green button at the bottom of the Sign Up section. Pressing it will create your new Facebook account, but you still need to verify the email address.
Step 10. Open your email account
Go to the inbox page of the address you used to sign up for Facebook and log in if necessary.
Step 11. Open the email you received from Facebook
Click the Welcome to Facebook message in your inbox.
Step 12. Click Get Started
You will see this dark blue button at the bottom of the email. Pressing it will verify the email address and open a new Facebook tab. Your account is now active.
