Following football is a great pastime for people all over the world - so much so that there are two types of football: the football we play in Italy (which Americans call "soccer" and the British "football") and American football.. Whether you are a soccer fan or an American football fan, you need to choose your favorite team, and the method is similar for both sports. Who knows, maybe your support could help your favorite team win the Super Bowl or the Champions League!
Steps
Step 1. Think about your area or hometown
Is there a great football team in your area? If so, it could become your favorite team. Your friends and neighbors are likely to be fans of that team, meaning you would have the opportunity to have fun together during match days.
You can also choose to cheer on the underdog local team, or even the local's "rival team". Even this way you could have fun, because you would go into collision with your neighbors and co-workers. Just remember to let the rivalry between you be pleasant and without animosity, otherwise you risk finding yourself in the middle of a fight
Step 2. Do some research
To find a favorite team, you need to think carefully. Study their position in the league standings and get to know their players. Do your research during the training season and read about their games from past years and how they ranked in the leagues, so you don't start the season without knowing the team's history.
Step 3. Also consider your favorite players
Many fans choose a favorite team based on the players. Who do you like? Who don't you like? You don't have to like all the players on a team, but if you have your favorite player, why not support the rest of the team as well?
Step 4. Check the statistics
Some fans always choose the most important teams, while others choose to cheer on the ones that never win. Even if it wasn't your style to cheer only on the strongest, taking a look at the stats will help you choose.
Step 5. Follow your instincts
Football fans usually have a particular instinct - something that makes them love the sport and even they cannot explain themselves. If your instincts tell you to, support your team, for better or for worse.
Step 6. Think about the team colors
For many, this will not be a cause for concern, but considering the matter certainly won't hurt. Do the team colors look good on you? Hardcore fans buy all the gadgets of their favorite team, so it's not a bad idea to think about what you would look like in their colors.
Step 7. Watch them play
Find out what their strengths are - offense, defense, goal (or touchdown). There is nothing better than watching the players in action to decide if you admire their skill and performance.
If you really like a particular team, it doesn't matter if they manage to win every game - it just matters how you see them. Even if they are not great champions, but you see them as such, you can say that you have a favorite team
Advice
- Don't pick a team based on their skill level. That's not all!
- Play as a team. Choose a team that you like.
