This article teaches you how to change the language, accent, and gender of the voice used by Siri on your iPhone.
Steps
Step 1. Open iPhone Settings
Press the gray gear icon on the home screen.
You can also find it in the "Utilities" folder on one of the home screens
Step 2. Scroll and tap on Siri
You will find the entry in the third set of options.
Step 3. Move the Siri switch to On
If the service is already enabled you can skip this step.
Step 4. Press Siri Voice
Step 5. Choose an accent
This feature, available only for the English version of Siri, allows you to choose between three different accents (American, British or Australian English).
- Not all languages have the ability to change the accent.
- By changing the accent, the program may have a hard time understanding your voice, but it should be able to adapt after a short time.
Step 6. Choose your gender
Thanks to this setting, you can choose whether Siri will speak in a male or female voice.
- The genders are not available in all languages.
- If you are using iOS 8, use the "Voice Gender" menu to change the feature if both genders are available for your language.
Advice
- Since Siri is a service provided through Apple's servers, its voice cannot be customized, even with a jailbroken phone.
- To change the language of Siri, press "Language" in the relevant menu and select one from the list.
