Round-faced women are beautiful because they look like porcelain dolls. However, when your cheekbones lose definition, you can put in place some tips to make them stand out. Of course you should be proud of your appearance, but if you would like to emphasize your cheekbones slightly and thin your face, there are several tricks you can try to get the look you want.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Using Make-Up
Step 1. Apply the bronzer
This product can help you contour your face and make it look slimmer. Make sure you choose a bronzer that is only one shade darker than your complexion so that the makeup doesn't look too artificial. Also, apply it with a high quality brush. Apply it in the hollows of the cheeks, on the temples and on the edges of the forehead to elongate and define the face.
- Apply it on the cheekbones, in line with the tips of the ears.
- Apply it carefully along the top left and right of the forehead to make it look less rounded.
- If you want your nose to look longer as well, then you should use an angled brush and apply the bronzer to the sides of the nose, up to the corners of the eyebrows.
- Apply a darker shade of bronzer right under the jaw. Make sure you blend it carefully with the rest of the makeup.
- The secret is to blend the bronzer and highlighter to make the contouring look natural.
Step 2. Apply the highlighter
Together with the bronzer, this product allows you to contour and slim the face. Generally, the highlighter should only be one shade lighter than your natural complexion. In this way, it brightens the skin without an artificial effect or sharp cuts. Apply it carefully on the points you would like to emphasize. Here's where you should do it:
- Above the cheekbones (in the area above where you applied the bronzer).
- On the back of the nose.
- In the center of the forehead.
Step 3. Draw attention to the eyes
You can do this by applying bold eyeshadow, a thick line of eyeliner, and black mascara. In this way, you create an optical illusion: people will first dwell on the eyes, and then they will look at the face vertically. You can also apply the concealer on dark circles, so the look will stand out even more. Emphasizing it is a great way to slim down your face.
To make your eyes stand out even more, you can create a cat-like look: apply eyeliner beyond the outer corner of the eyes
Step 4. Give your brows an arched shape
Defining the eyebrows with a seagull wing shape can slightly elongate the face. You shouldn't overdo it, but try to create a defined arc in the center. In this way, the arch aligns with the eyes. Just remember not to thin your eyebrows too much: if they are thin, they do not give definition to the face, which will therefore appear rounder. So make sure you have quite thick and arched eyebrows.
For an even more intense look, you can fill in the empty parts of the eyebrows with a special pencil
Step 5. Apply lipstick
This product can slightly slim down the face because it will draw attention to the lips. For an even more pronounced effect, apply a lip liner and define the so-called Cupid's bow well; this way, the face will appear longer than it really is. If you don't like bright lipsticks, you can opt for a more subtle color or lip gloss.
Part 2 of 2: Using Other Tricks
Step 1. Choose the right hairstyle
The hairdo plays a huge role and can streamline the face. There is no "magic cut" that will remedy all your problems, but some styles are preferable to others for those who want to achieve a leaner face. If you want to enhance your hair and use it to streamline your face, you can try some of the following looks:
- Avoid helmets or cuts that do not go beyond the ears. Generally, they make the face look even more rounded.
- If you have bangs, make sure it's soft, not straight and defined. Compared to the neat front tufts, the soft ones make the face look slimmer.
- Ideally, the hair should be shoulder-length to the bottom of the ears. If they are longer then they will make your face lose shape.
- Scale them to frame the face. Climbing the hair around the face can make it look slimmer.
- Avoid giving your hair too much volume. If they are definitely puffy, then the face will look a little rounder.
Step 2. Choose the right hairstyle
Once you've got a cut that fits your hair, you'll be halfway there. Now, if you want your face to look particularly thin, you need to style your hair the best way to achieve this. There are several hairstyles you can try to thin your face - whether your hair is long or short. Here are some looks to consider:
- Collect them into a high ponytail.
- Do a half up (if you want, you can also tease the top slightly) to elongate your face.
- Do the side row. This way, the face won't look too symmetrical.
- Every now and then, opt for a low ponytail. This hairstyle will also make the face appear longer and thinner.
Step 3. Bring the appropriate jewelry
Accessories can help you elongate your face, especially drop earrings and long, pointed necklaces. Jewelry should be long and showy. Avoid button earrings or large, round ones, short necklaces or accessories that don't elongate the face.
Step 4. Choose the right accessories
In addition to jewelry, you could wear a tall hat or a pair of sunglasses on the crown of your head (if you like these accessories). You can wear a long scarf to make your body and face look slimmer, but you should avoid those that get too tight in the neck area, otherwise the face will appear even more rounded.
Step 5. Make your face look thinner in the photo
If you want to achieve this, then you can try taking a slight pout, which will lengthen your mouth and make your face look slightly slimmer. You should also try to place the tongue on the roof of the mouth to avoid double chin. Another way to look slimmer in photos is to make sure you are photographed from above, not from below, so in general you will look taller and slimmer.
Step 6. Wear the right clothes
If you want your face to look slimmer, then you can wear clothing that slims the whole body. To do this, you should opt for black and prefer the solid color to the patterns. If you want to wear striped clothing, choose vertical ones (and not horizontal ones), as they can make your face and body appear slimmer, less stocky.
- Choose a combination that opens your eyes slightly and lengthens your neck. Prefer sweaters and dresses with a V-neck, or in general clothes that show the neck and shoulders more. If you wear turtlenecks or high-necked tops, then these garments will make your neck look shorter and your face look rounder.
- Instead of wearing short skirts or capri pants, which can make you look shorter, go for long skirts or jeans.
Step 7. Get slim
You may have heard of facial exercises, but opinions as to their effectiveness are mixed. In general, it is not possible to lose weight in just one part of the body, so if you want your face to look slimmer, weight loss should be general. Just lose a few pounds to make it much leaner: if you think you need to shed excess weight, this strategy could be for you.
- You don't have to follow a crash diet. Just exercise for at least 30 minutes a day and have three healthy, balanced meals a day, adding healthy snacks like almonds and grapes.
- Eating foods that are high in sodium can also make your face look a little swollen than usual. Avoid foods like French fries as much as possible.
- Drinking alcohol can also make your face look a little more puffy, so you should avoid it or drink it less often to help slim it down.
- Get into the habit of moving around as often as possible. Instead of taking the elevator, go up the stairs on foot. Instead of driving to the supermarket, take a walk. Make an effort to move whenever you can.
Advice
- If you want to have a leaner face, hair plays an incredibly important role, so remember: it needs to be more voluminous at the top and scaled up the lengths.
- Do not overdo the makeup: you will get an unsightly result.
- Buy lots of dangle earrings: they are really useful.
