Dogs are easier to train, but cats can certainly learn tricks too. Sometimes they can even spontaneously do fun things; just do a search on YouTube. Here's how to teach your cat some tricks! But take your time, as cats are more difficult to train than dogs!
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Dance and Jump
Step 1. If you want to make your cat jump, or "dance", grab some of his treats
Step 2. Hold the tidbit about 10cm from his mouth and he will try to eat it
Step 3. Make him dangle and say "dance" or "jump"
Your cat will jump on its hind legs (like we do when standing) and touch your hands to make you drop the treat.
Step 4. Have him stand on two legs for as long as possible, perhaps twirling the tidbit in the air to make your cat spin around
Step 5. When he can no longer "stand" and falls to the ground, reward him with compliments and give him the treat
Method 2 of 3: Take it off
Step 1. Get a toothpick and a treat
Step 2. Hold the toothpick vertically and place the treat on it
Don't press it too hard and don't push it too far in or the morsel will break.
Step 3. Hold the toothpick from the center, place it in front of your cat's muzzle and say:
"take it off". Your cat will pounce on the toothpick and gnaw on the top until the treat comes off.
Step 4. Praise him and give him something to eat
You can also use both ends of the toothpick and use as many as you like. But don't tire your cat too much.
Method 3 of 3: Paw
Step 1. Let your cat sniff her tidbit
Don't make them take it.
Step 2. Lift one of your cat's front paws, and then give him the treat
Repeat.
Step 3. After a few days and after doing this about 10-15 times with you lifting his paw, let him raise it by himself
If he does, squeeze his paw as you feed him the tidbit, and reward him with an extra treat for doing the exercise all by himself.
Warnings
- Do not prick the cat in the mouth with the toothpick!
- Don't give your cat too many tidbits! They could hurt him!
