Especially girls with light eyes or pale skin need to define the eye contour, to make them appear more magnetic and sensual. Applying the black pencil along the upper inner rim of the eye allows you to define and slightly thicken the lash line. At first it might seem a difficult and dangerous technique, but in reality it is really simple and allows you to emphasize the look in an obvious way.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Prepare to Outline the Eyes
Step 1. Wash your hands
Whenever you are about to touch your face, especially the eye area, it is important to have clean hands. In fact, there may be dirt or sebum on the fingers, which could irritate or infect the eyes.
Step 2. Choose the right pencil
Since you have to apply it in the inner rim of the eye, in close contact with the eyeball, it is essential to choose a waterproof and long-lasting pencil. The ideal is to use an eye pencil, but if you have some experience applying eyeliner, you can try using one in gel or cream. Generally it is better to choose the black color, but if you want to get a more natural look you can try using a pencil of the same color as your lashes (dark or light brown).
- Liquid eyeliners are not suitable for use inside the eye. The reason is that they don't dry quickly and can smudge, causing pain and irritation to the eye.
- If you intend to use a pencil, it is better to choose an automatic one than a regular sharpener. The reason is that the roughness of the wood could irritate the eye.
- If you prefer to use a gel or cream eyeliner, which is not available in pen form, apply it with a flat or angled tip brush. This way you will get a more accurate result.
Step 3. Clean the pencil
The inner rim of the eye is particularly vulnerable to infection, more so than the rest of the eyelid. To avoid contaminating it with bacteria that tend to accumulate on cosmetics and make-up accessories, it is important to clean the tip of the pencil before using it to outline the eye. If you have decided to use a sharpenable pencil anyway, sharpening it will allow you to both clean it and get a more precise stroke.
Do not lend or borrow cosmetics
Step 4. Lift the upper lid
Tilt your head back slightly. At this point, place the index finger of the non-dominant hand on the eyelid and lift it very gently upwards, to show the inner rim of the eye. Basically, you have to gently squeeze the eyelid against the brow bone. Now turn your gaze slightly downwards.
- If the rhyme is not very visible, try to lift the eyelid a little more.
- Alternatively, you can pull the eyelid from the top. Lift your bent arm above your head, then use your index finger to very gently pull the eyelid upward.
Part 2 of 2: Applying the Pencil
Step 1. Apply the pencil in the upper inner line
The first thing to do is to place the pencil vertically at the height of the outer corner of the eye. The upper inner rim is the inner and partially hidden edge of the eyelid, which is in direct contact with the eyeball. Color it with the pencil, making more than one stroke, according to the intensity of color you want to achieve. Repeat the same process for the other eye as well.
- Stop before you get to the inner corner of the eye. Otherwise, you will get an unnatural effect, while also running the risk of the eye appearing smaller and closed rather than larger and more defined. Stop at the level of the tear duct or where the lashes begin to become thinner.
- If you want to apply the pencil only on the upper inner rim (to make the eyes appear larger), be careful not to blink as you apply it and in the moments that follow. If you were to close your eyes before the stroke is dry, the color will partially smudge on the lower rim, jeopardizing the desired effect. Using eye drops before starting may be helpful.
Step 2. Color the space between the lashes
You can use the same pencil or an eyeshadow of a similar shade. If you've used an eyeliner, it's best to draw lots of small dots next to each other right at the base of the lashes. If you prefer to use eyeshadow, try to push it between lashes with the brush.
The eyeshadow should be applied using a thin, angled brush tip. This way you will be able to apply color more accurately
Step 3. Also outline the lower rhyme (optional)
If you want to make the look even more magnetic, gently slide the pencil along the lower inner line as well. Many women just apply the pencil to the base of their lower lashes, outside the eye, along what is called the lower outer rim. Note, however, that applying a very dark pencil to the lower inner rim tends to make the eye smaller, not enlarge it.
Try not to darken and not overly thicken the line, especially if you prefer to have a natural look. Repeat the same process for the other eye as well
Step 4. Curl your lashes (optional)
If you want, you can curl your upper lashes using the eyelash curler. Open it, bring it as close as possible to the lash line (without touching the skin), then close it gently. You have to make sure that the grommet is exactly at the base of the hairs. You can keep it closed for a few moments or open and close it gently several times at a regular pace. Curl the lashes of both eyes in this way.
- For an excellent result, after curving the lashes vertically, turn the curler horizontally (following the curve of the eye, then open and close it a few more times.
- Never apply excessive pressure on your lashes. If you feel pain or discomfort, fix the curler better and try again.
Advice
- You can make a line of the desired thickness, but it is advisable to try to make it as thin as possible.
- It may be helpful to try to look in the opposite direction to where you are applying the pencil. When outlining the inner corner of the eye, turn your gaze to the outer, and vice versa. This way you should be able to stop tearing.
- If on the first try you can't get the desired result, simply wipe the line off with a makeup remover and try again. With a little practice, you will learn how to outline eyes in less than a minute.
