Do you desperately need to trim your hair but don't want to spend money at the hairdresser? Here is a faster and cheaper way!
Steps
Step 1. Never get a real haircut yourself (for example, if you have waist-length hair, don't cut it at the shoulders)
That's not what this article is about. To trim the hair means to cut a few centimeters.
Step 2. Wash your hair, then wait for a few minutes
Squeeze out excess water by bringing your hair to your shoulders and squeezing it with your hands. Do a twist and voila, the water will come out! Be sure to do this on the sink or bathtub.
Step 3. Take the scissors and check that they are clean
Do not use kitchen or baby scissors, otherwise you will not be able to cut your hair well. Get some hairdressing scissors, nice sharp. They are found in perfumeries and hair product stores, or you can ask your hairdresser directly. The price of a pair of hair scissors can vary a lot, from € 5 to € 100. If you only need to trim your hair every now and then, get the ones that are cheaper. If, on the other hand, you want to become a hairdresser or learn how to make cuts like a pro, then you can focus on the more expensive ones. Try on Amazon.co.uk.
Step 4. Standing in front of a mirror works if you have to trim your hair yourself
However, it's best if you get help from someone whose hands don't shake. In that case, sit in a stable chair with your back wrapped in a towel, sheets, tablecloth, or whatever.
Step 5. If you get someone else to do your hair, keep your back straight
It is very important not to move, to avoid making the scissors go crooked and end up with a very irregular cut.
Step 6. If you are doing it alone or on someone else, start slowly and very carefully
Take a couple of deep breaths to keep your hand steady if necessary. If you are left handed, hold the scissors in your left hand and grab the hair 5-6 cm from the end, holding it between the index and middle fingers. If you are mainly using your right hand, hold the scissors in that hand. Start at the end, either from the right or from the left, for a smooth cut.
Step 7. Carefully place your fingers about two inches from the end of the strand, or higher if you want to trim more
Place the scissors directly under your fingers and cut carefully.
Step 8. Make sure the next section is the same length as the first
It is very important to decide how many centimeters you want to cut.
Step 9. Repeat step 7 until you finish the strands
