Are your brows starting to resemble a second beard? Worried about starting to look unprofessional? Easily enhance your appearance from home by plucking your eyebrows. This article will teach you to cut your eyebrows for a cleaner look, and to pluck them to really get noticed. Start with step one.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Prepare the Skin
Step 1. Take a hot shower
It is best to soften the skin before cutting to facilitate hair removal. A hot shower is what it takes.
Step 2. Exfoliate
Use a scrub or other exfoliant around your brows. This will prepare the skin and remove excess hair.
Step 3. Use a warm washcloth
Alternatively or in addition to the shower, you can apply a warm, wet cloth to your face to soften the skin (you will probably need to soften it again after exfoliation). This should take a few minutes and you may need to wet the cloth again.
Part 2 of 4: Standard cut
Step 1. Comb the hair upwards
Use a comb or eyebrow comb and comb the hair upwards, starting from the nose and moving outwards to cover the entire arch of the eyebrows. Use the comb as long as it takes to fix the eyebrows in that position.
You can make a comb out of a toothbrush if it's easier to find
Step 2. Trim the hair
With a pair of scissors, cut off all the hair above the brow line (the edge where the hair stops growing).
Step 3. Repeat
Continue like this, moving along the line until you cut all the hairs along the arch of the eyebrows.
When you're done combing, if your brows are still looking too dark and thick, you can also comb them down and trim them. Stop when you get the bow
Step 4. Check the arch
This is where it gets more difficult, because it depends on personal style and hair growth. Generally, from the arch, instead of combing the hair upwards and cutting them, comb it at 45 ° towards the temple and cut any hair outside the edge, as before.
Step 5. Follow a guideline
There is a general line to follow to shape the eyebrows, which you can use if you want. Use a pencil or other tools to find these lines more easily. There are 4 basic measures, around which the hair should be trimmed:
- In a straight line from the nostrils (trim the hair between the eyebrows).
- The arch should follow a diagonal from the nostril to the outer edge of the pupil.
- Between the nostril and the outer corner of the eye. The outer side of the eyebrow should not go beyond this line.
- Between the starting point of the eyebrow and the highest point of contact between the ear and the head. The eyebrow should not extend below this point.
Part 3 of 4: Thorough Care
Step 1. Form the arches
Once you have completed the standard cut, you can pluck all the hairs under the natural arch of your eyebrows if you want. Avoid making the arch too thin, but follow the natural shape of the eyebrow (where most of the hair grows).
Step 2. Remove the outer hairs
Pull out any hair away from the edges of the eyebrows. You may find hairs higher on the forehead or too close to the ears, for example.
Step 3. Remove the hair in the center
If you want, you can remove the hair between the eyebrows. Some, however, find the unibrow attractive, so don't feel constrained.
Part 4 of 4: Other methods
Step 1. Try a specific razor
There are small electrical appliances generally used for nose hair, but they are also useful for eyebrows. Use them instead of scissors for a faster cut but watch out: it's easy to get carried away and cut more than necessary!
Step 2. Try to fillet
It is a method of plucking hair that you can easily do at home with a simple thread. It is quick and relatively painless, but a little practice is required.
Step 3. Try waxing
If you really don't want to think about how to shape your eyebrows, go to a beautician! It's nothing to be ashamed of, and you'll probably find other men there too. The beautician will probably prefer to use waxing, the quickest method. It hurts but only for a few seconds, like tearing a band-aid.
