Not sure what to do with the hair growing under there? You can choose between different looks: here is a list of the most popular.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Before You Begin
Step 1. Check dry, shave wet
Trim your hair when it's dry (because it's easier to manage), while shaving after a 15-minute bath or shower to prevent irritation.
Step 2. Wash yourself
Before proceeding, wash your pubic area with soap or shower gel. The presence of bacteria can aggravate the infection in case of cuts, burns or razor burns.
Step 3. Use the right tools
Avoid common scissors and try the following alternatives. Whichever tool you choose, use it only for pubic hair, to prevent any infections.
- The nail scissors are small and ideal for delicate operations. If you can, buy a pair with blunt ends. You will find them in many hypermarkets.
- A goatee and nose and ear hair machine should have a device that you place on the blades to get an even length. Do not use the electric razor with rotating heads: you could get hurt.
- Embroidery scissors resemble those used to cut nails, but watch out for the sharp tips.
Step 4. Use a razor that has sharp blades
A dull one, in fact, could cause the appearance of ingrown hairs. If the hair is long, trim it first. Shave following the direction of hair growth; although it takes longer to do this, this will prevent any irritation. Use a mild, fragrance-free hair removal cream or gel.
Step 5. Pin your hair in a place that is easily washable, such as in the shower or sitting on the toilet
Step 6. Get a hand mirror to see how the job is progressing
Method 2 of 4: Styles for you
Step 1. Natural
You can opt for a minimum maintenance of the area. Trim the hair evenly and choose the length you prefer.
Check with scissors or an electric machine. For an even result with scissors, trim them while running a comb along the hair (as hairdressers do)
Step 2. Try the bikini style, ideal if you have to go to the beach
Check the hair evenly and shave the groin so that no unnecessary hair is visible.
- Trim the hair with scissors or an electric razor.
- Remove unwanted hair from the groin with a razor or wax.
Step 3. Complete hair removal that leaves an inverted triangle or a heart in the area above the genitals
- Trim the hair to start shaping it.
- Shape the hair on the labia with a razor or wax.
- Remove the hair around the vaginal lips with a razor, wax or epilator.
Step 4. Create a rectangle, a hybrid and provocative style
Remove all hair around the labia, leaving a thin rectangle along the slit.
- Trim the hairs to create the rectangle.
- Remove hair from the pubic area with a razor, wax, an epilator or, being careful not to get too close to the delicate membranes, a depilatory cream.
- Pin the hair on the rectangle, giving it an even length.
Step 5. Brazilian hair removal
It is a style in vogue among movie stars that leaves the area entirely free of hair.
- Trim the hairs to manage them better.
- Remove everything with a razor, wax or epilator.
Method 3 of 4: Styles for Him
Step 1. Natural
All you have to do is to trim the hair evenly and leave it in its current form. The length depends on your preferences.
Check with scissors or an electric machine. To trim evenly using scissors, use a comb, like barbers do
Step 2. Beach look, which resembles the feminine bikini-style
Check the hair evenly and shave the groin.
- Trim the hair with scissors or an electric razor.
- Remove hair from the groin with a razor or wax.
Step 3. The “lion's mane”
It is a style that allows you to optically increase the size of the pubic area. Remove hair from the testicles and the base of the penis.
Remove hair everywhere, except in the upper pubic area, using a razor or waxing. You can fix the remaining hair by ticking them, but for a volumizing effect, you should leave them as they are
Step 4. Create an arrow or stripe
Make a downward arch or a thin stripe above the genitals.
- Give the hair a general check so that the arrow / rectangle is more clearly highlighted.
- Trim the hairs to give them the shape you want.
- Remove unwanted hair with a razor or wax, except in the upper pubic area.
Step 5. Brazilian hair removal, which leaves the entire area naked
- Trim the hairs to make hair removal easier.
- Depilate with wax (traditional method) or with a razor (more maintenance will be required).
Method 4 of 4: Post-Hair Removal and Maintenance Care
Step 1. Apply post-depilatory lotion or moisturizer
Good skin care is essential and will reduce irritation. Make sure you use a fragrance-free product, to avoid burning in what is the most delicate area of your body. Opt for a gel that contains vitamin E and / or aloe vera: you will see, you will immediately feel better.
Remember that hair removal makes the skin vulnerable to infection. You could apply alcohol to prevent them, but it will give a burning sensation, especially for women. Use it at your discretion
Step 2. Cure the new style
Getting started is the hardest part but keeping the result is pretty simple.
- Go over the razor every 2-3 days.
- Revive areas with hair once a week or every 15 days.
- Wax every 4-6 weeks.
Advice
-
If you want to have longer lasting results:
- Use a depilatory cream that removes hair from the roots, although it is not recommended for those with a particularly sensitive pubic area. You could use it around the genitals but not directly on the area. Before using it, do a test on a delicate area of your body.
- Use wax or an electric epilator. Both methods remove hair at the root and can cause pain, especially the first few times.
- If you wax regularly, the hair will become thinner and thinner and it will be less painful to remove it.
- If you shave with the razor, rinse it after each stroke and change the blades if you find that they no longer work as they used to. Pubic hair is thick and, therefore, the blades will come out quickly.
- When you have finished shaving, spray cold water on the affected areas to close the pores and prevent any irritation.
- Stretch the skin of the area you are depilating for a better result.
- For permanent results, invest in electrolysis or laser removal. These professional treatments are expensive and often painful and require several sessions to completely remove the hair, but leave the skin really smooth.
Warnings
- Gently handle scissors, razors, epilators and everything else you use for personal care to avoid cutting yourself. Be especially careful when shaving your scrotum (if you are a man) or your labia minora (if you are a woman).
- If you have a lot of hair and sensitive skin, hair removal may be painful and cause irritation. Use a good lotion to moisturize the area and, over time, you will see that the skin gets used to it.
