Here's how to remove knots from afro hair correctly and painlessly!
Steps
Step 1. First of all, wash your hair with shampoo
Step 2. Don't stack your hair on top of your head as you wash it
You would only increase the number of knots and risk breaking them.
Step 3. After shampooing, use the conditioner as usual, without skimping on quantities
With the conditioner still on your hair, take a wide-toothed comb and divide it into four or more sections. Braid or twist them to secure them.
Step 4. Dissolve a section of hair and comb it with the wide-toothed comb, starting at the tips and moving towards the roots
It is important not to do the opposite! Otherwise the hair will tend to break more! In the presence of the most stubborn knots, the best thing to do is to try to untie them patiently with your fingers. This way you will avoid breaking them.
Step 5. Repeat step 3 on all sections of hair, progressively loosening and combing from tips to roots
If your hair starts to dry, depending on how long it takes to get rid of the knots, you can choose to re-moisten it.
Step 6. After combing all sections of hair, rinse them to remove the conditioner
Advice
- Never use a fine-toothed comb to remove knots.
- Afro hair is easier to style when wet and saturated with conditioner.
- It is not recommended to comb dry afro hair. Just remove the knots when you wash them.
- Never force the comb into a knot to remove it, use your fingers and be patient to avoid breaking large numbers of hair.
- If you need to comb dry hair, apply a leave-in conditioner or moisturizer, be gentle and use a very wide-toothed comb.
