False lashes are perfect for adding volume to natural ones and framing the eyes. In many beauty centers you can have a couple applied that last up to 8 weeks or you can choose to use a DIY kit to keep them for up to a week. In this case they stick with a semi-permanent glue right above the natural lash line. This type of glue often contains cyanoacrylate, better known as super attack, and is often very difficult to remove. Removing false eyelashes is a delicate process as you may be pulling your natural ones too if you are not careful. This article will tell you how to take them off easily.
Steps
Step 1. Purchase a glue remover for false eyelashes
You will also find this special type of solvent in most stores that sell them. Make sure you read the label carefully to check that you are not allergic to any ingredients. The liquid may smell the same as nail polish acetone as it contains non-aggressive solvents.
Step 2. Remove makeup
This will make it easier to see where the real lashes end and the false ones begin. Hot water will also make it easier to remove the glue.
Step 3. Pour a few drops of eyelash glue remover onto a cotton swab
Step 4. Stand in front of a mirror
You will need to be able to see your every move to make sure you rub the solvent in the right areas. You should choose a mirror that sits above a sink in case you need to wash your eyes or hands.
Step 5. Hold the cotton swab with your dominant hand and pull the eyelid down slightly with the other
Your lashes should now be visible from above and you should be able to better understand where the fake ones are attached.
Step 6. Move the solvent-soaked cotton swab along the lash line from the outer to the inner corner
Repeat this several times to dissolve the glue.
Step 7. After about 15 strokes try to grab the end of the false lashes with your thumb and forefinger
They should start to come off without needing to pull hard.
-
If you find that the tip does not come off, apply a little more solvent to a clean cotton swab and repeat the last step.
Step 8. Grab the end of the false lashes and lift it until it is perpendicular to the eye
You don't have to pull as your natural lashes may be stuck with the false ones. In this case, try separating them with olive oil.
Step 9. Continue lifting until all of the line is removed
Step 10. Apply a little more solvent to the other end of the cotton swab
Place it on the lash line, where the fake one was, and remove the excess glue. It could stay on the eye for days and settle on real lashes if you don't remove it all immediately.
Step 11. Repeat this entire operation for the other eye
Step 12. Wash and rinse your eyelids with a mild facial cleanser
Advice
- You don't need MAC or Makeup For Ever eyelashes. You can find quality eyelashes at lower prices and no one will notice the difference.
- You don't have to throw them away after just one application, especially if they're expensive. If you take care of them, you can reuse them up to 5-7 times.
- If you can, don't use the glue you find in the lash packaging. Also add some on the self-adhesive lashes too. Invest in a quality glue like Duo, LashGrip, or Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive.
- If you cut them in half you will get two pairs with one and you will save money. Use this technique if you don't use false lashes or want a more natural look.
Warnings
- Be careful if you use tweezers to remove them. Sharp objects and eyes aren't always an ideal match!
- Don't sleep with false eyelashes. Glue is not suitable for staying on for long periods and you may lose it in bed.
