Nicotine, contained in tobacco derivatives, can be excreted from the body quite easily. As the body metabolizes it, it enters the blood, saliva and urine, where it can be measured and detected. Nicotine usually stays in the body for 1 to 4 days after smoking a cigarette. First, you can expel it by giving your body the natural time it needs, but also by eating, drinking and exercising. Nicotine makes tobacco derivatives addictive, so when you have eliminated it from your body, your body's urge to smoke will disappear.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Metabolizing Nicotine with Food and Water
Step 1. Drink lots of water
Since the body excretes nicotine through the urine, the more frequent you go to the bathroom will eliminate it faster. The water you drink also helps you dilute the nicotine still circulating in your body. Drinking plenty of water may help you pass the nicotine urine test ordered by your employer.
- A grown man should take at least 3.7 liters of fluid per day.
- An adult woman should take at least 2.7 liters per day.
- Note that in some countries it is illegal to require blood tests that detect nicotine on potential new employees. Get informed to know what your rights are.
Step 2. Supplement the water with other healthy drinks
Not all fluids you take in a day have to be water. Liquids that do not contain artificial flavors or added sugars, such as green tea or cranberry juice, improve the body's hydration and increase the rate at which the body excretes nicotine through the urine.
If you are trying to remove nicotine from your body, you should avoid alcoholic drinks, fizzy drinks and coffee, as they do not hydrate the body as much as water and fruit juices. In addition, they contain numerous additives
Step 3. Eat foods rich in antioxidants
Antioxidants help the body metabolize nicotine, which is then excreted faster via sweat and urine. In addition, they promote the elimination of toxins (including nicotine) from the body. Foods with a high antioxidant content include:
- Leafy vegetables, such as kale and spinach
- Nuts, such as walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts;
- Berries, such as strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries.
Step 4. Eat foods that stimulate the production of bile by the liver
If bile production increases, the metabolization process accelerates. As a result, nicotine passes through the body more quickly. The richer your diet is in foods that stimulate bile production, the faster you will be able to excrete nicotine through urine and sweat. Foods that boast this property include:
- Onions and garlic;
- Egg yolks;
- Vegetables such as radishes, leeks, asparagus, celery and carrots.
Step 5. Enrich your diet with foods that contain a lot of vitamin C
This important vitamin accelerates metabolism and as a result nicotine is processed and excreted more quickly. Foods rich in vitamin C include oranges, strawberries, broccoli, kiwifruit, Brussels sprouts, and papaya.
Alternatively, you can purchase a vitamin C supplement in tablets. Ask your pharmacist for advice
Method 2 of 2: Eliminate Nicotine with Exercise
Step 1. Run
Running and other aerobic disciplines increase your heart rate and force you to sweat. When you sweat, nicotine is excreted from the body naturally through sweat. Make sure you run long enough to get a good sweat. You will most likely need to run for at least 15-20 minutes, depending on the weather.
If it's cold outside or you prefer to run indoors, go to the gym and run on the treadmill
Step 2. Take a sauna
The warm, humid air of the sauna makes you sweat. It is a great ploy to expel nicotine from the body without effort. The more you sweat, the more nicotine you will excrete through the skin. Stay in the sauna for 20-30 minutes, take a dip in the pool and then return to the sauna for another 20-30 minutes.
If you don't have the opportunity to take a sauna, find another warm environment that makes you sweat effortlessly. For example, spend a couple of hours lying in the sun at the park or by the pool
Step 3. Stop smoking to remove nicotine from your body permanently
Abandon tobacco derivatives forever to expel all the nicotine you have in your body and avoid taking more. The offending products include cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco. If you want to eliminate nicotine from your body, all solutions other than stopping using any tobacco product permanently are only temporary.
In addition to the risk of becoming addicted to tobacco, smoking terribly damages the body in many ways. By giving up tobacco you can improve your overall health, and you will also reduce the chances of developing various types of cancer and diseases
Advice
- A single cigarette contains approximately 1 milligram of nicotine.
- If you need to have a urine test, stop smoking at least 7 days in advance. For best results, avoid all tobacco derivatives starting 21 days before the test.
