If you hear of "spray paint", you automatically think of graffiti. It is true, but it is also true that there are artists who can create real works of art with the use of spray paint. Paint is used to create art on poster boards or card stock in general. Since creating surreal landscapes is a common subject, the steps below will tell you how to create your own as a true artist! Method 1 of 3: Find the Suitable Environment to Paint
Step 1. Find a well-ventilated area, paints are chemical solvents and produce unhealthy and dangerous odors
- Create an opening that allows ventilation, make sure it is positioned the right way to prevent paint fumes from getting into your face.
- Open the window if you spray indoors and set a fan to blow the vapors out.
- Wearing a respirator to greatly minimize exposure to solvents is strongly recommended.
Step 2. Use paper plates or other round objects for the planets
Lids, old Frisbees, empty plastic containers can work just fine. Place the object on the part of the card that you want it to appear on.
Step 3. Draw the planets

Remove the shapes and spray inside the planets with any color. You don't need to stay within the contours, just put enough paint to fill the shape of the planet with color.
Step 5. Add an effect
Spray a light layer of black on certain areas of the planet. Gently place a piece of magazine on top of the black layer while it is still damp. With your hand, slide to the other side of the magazine, pull from an angle of about an inch, then grab the edge of the poster. It should look nice!
- Get creative with the materials. In addition to magazines, you can use paper towels, plastic bags, sponges, pieces of terry towels, and lots of other elements to create different effects.
- Keep the original artwork. Try not to use brushes or anything that is part of traditional painting.
Step 6. Create the sky
Put the shapes back in place and spray around to create the sky. Fill all the space with black between the shapes and spray around the shapes again to complete the circles of the planets. Spray a little bit of blue to add layers of color.
Step 7. Add the stars
Get a can of white paint. It can be difficult to know how much pressure to apply in order to create a light mist of stars, so you can practice on some cardstock first. Alternatively, you can spray the paint directly onto your finger and tap it on the cardboard.
Step 8. Remove the shapes and admire your painting

Method 2 of 3: Improve the technique
Step 1. Understand the structure of a spray paint can
There is a small tube that runs from the valve at the top of the can to the bottom of the can. The tube must be immersed in the paint in order for it to be caught.
- Hold the can vertically to ensure the spray.
- Experiment to see how it works. If the can is full it should work in any position.
Step 2. Do not let the paint drip
Shake the paint very hard to prevent it from dripping.

- Keep the can upside down when you shake it, this holds the paint particles in the liquid solvent. Shake for about a minute.
Step 3. Create thin lines
Being able to create fine lines will allow you to add details and outlines.
- Stay as close as you can to the cardstock to get the fine lines.
- Hold the can vertically when drawing vertical lines, horizontally to draw horizontal lines.
- Move quickly. You need to paint quickly to create very fine lines. If you spray too long in the same place, drops will form.
Step 4. Learn to fill in the blanks

- Fill in the spaces using lines. Do not release a continuous stream of paint into an area. Use lines to gradually cover the space.
- Release the cap after each line.
- Make thin layers. They dry faster and produce a finish that lasts longer.

The trick is to stop the spray at the right time before spraying again to create a dot.
