Playing Minecraft offline offers some benefits, such as being able to have fun even without an internet connection, not having to install updates, reducing lag and not having to log in and authenticate on Minecraft servers. To play offline just select the "Play offline" option in the launcher or you can change the server information.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Enable Offline Mode
Step 1. Open the Minecraft launcher and click "Login" in the lower right corner
You must leave the username and password fields blank.
Step 2. Select "Play offline"
The game will open in offline mode.
Method 2 of 2: Change the Information of a Minecraft Server
Step 1. Open the "Minecraft Server" folder on your computer
This method only works if you play on a Minecraft server running on your PC or if you have the ability to access a friend's server.
Step 2. Remove the check mark next to the server name
This way, you will temporarily disable it.
Step 3. Open the "server.properties" file
This will open a text document that contains the server properties in your computer's default program, such as Notepad or Text Editor.
Step 4. Find the "online-mode = true" entry in the property list
Step 5. Change the value from "true" to "false"
The entry should now be "online-mode = false" indicating that online mode is disabled on your server.
Step 6. Save your changes, then close Notepad or Text Editor
Step 7. Put the check mark back next to the Minecraft server name, then double-click it to restart
Step 8. Open the Minecraft launcher, then click "Login" in the lower right corner
Step 9. Select "Play offline", then open your server
You will start a game in offline mode.
Warnings
- Playing Minecraft offline cannot use custom skins and cannot install the latest updates published by Mojang, including those that fix bugs. Please take this into consideration before deciding to play without an internet connection.
- Running a Minecraft server in offline mode exposes you to a greater security risk, as all users will be able to log into the server and play with you. To minimize the risks, activate online mode again as soon as you finish the game.
