Grabbing rich loot in Clash of Clans battles is a lot of fun, but it takes some planning if you want to be successful. Due to the cost of troops and targeting, raiding a village can be very expensive. However, with the right balance of lower-tier troops and a little care in choosing the juiciest targets, big loot can be earned.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Building Your Army
Step 1. Focus on the Archer / Barbarian combination
These two units will form the core of your army. The barbarians attract the attention of the defenders and focus the damage on them, while the archers line up in the rear and destroy the buildings from afar.
You will need around 90 archers and 60-80 barbarians
Step 2. Add the Goblins
Goblins are phenomenal at grabbing loot, as from the start their automatic target is the buildings that hold the resources. They are also the fastest units in the game. They don't have a lot of hit points and will therefore need to be deployed behind other troops if you want them to survive.
Step 3. Add a Wall Breaker to each group
These big boys will allow you to get past thick village walls faster, giving your troops more time to attack buildings before succumbing to attacks from defenders.
Step 4. Upgrade your units
Upgraded units will last longer on the battlefield. Upgrading units should be one of your top priorities if you want to increase your post-battle winnings.
Step 5. Train troops effectively
Distribute training times between Barracks to create a well-structured army in the shortest possible time.
- In the first two Barracks, train 45 archers each to reach a total of 90 archers.
- In the other two Barracks, train 40 barbarians each for a total of 80.
- Distribute your support troops between the various Barracks.
Part 2 of 3: Finding the Perfect Target
Step 1. Search for inactive villages
There are many players who quit Clash of Clans or stop playing for a while. How to understand which villages are inactive? Check for the following signs:
- Make sure the trophy icon is there. The trophy icon is located at the top left next to the player's name. If it is not present, it means that the player is not active.
- Set up an archer in front of any resource collector, gold or elixir. Check how much you can make from them. If you get any score above 500, the player has been inactive for a while.
- If you get more than 1000 units with a single hit, it means you've hit the jackpot. Don't leave this village.
- If you see that the builders in the builders' huts are sleeping, then it means that the player hasn't been playing in a while.
- If there are a lot of bushes and logs, this is another sign that the player is inactive.
Step 2. Look for villages with vulnerable resource gatherers and warehouses
The best villages are those where the resource collectors and warehouses are positioned towards the outside of the base.
- Check where the gold warehouse is by tapping the gold resource icon.
- Check where the resource bins are by tapping the binder icon.
Part 3 of 3: Deploy your troops
Step 1. Determine whether your focus will be on resource collectors, warehouses, or both
This will help you decide where to place your troops. Your objective will depend a lot on the structure of the village and its defenses.
- If your target is collectors, look for resource collectors located outside the walls, close to each other or out of range of the defenses' attacks.
- If your goal is warehouses, look for the best way to reach them and try to get to the ones that are close to each other.
Step 2. Figure out how to deploy your troops
Select the troop you want by tapping the troop icon at the bottom. Deploy the troop in the enemy base by touching any area of the base. Don't deploy all troops in one spot or the mortars will destroy them in one fell swoop.
Step 3. Send the Barbarians first
Identify the weaker sides of the village or the locations closest to the warehouses and collectors and then deploy the Barbarians. After the Barbarians start taking damage from the defenses, dispatch the archers to start attacking whatever comes their way.
Use the Wall Breaker to clear the way for your Barbarians
Step 4. Send the Goblins after the Barbarians
After you have deployed Barbarians and Archers and the way is clear, send the Goblins. They will target the closest resource buildings directly, so be sure to deploy them in an advantageous spot.
Step 5. Go for gold
If the resource collectors are placed outside the walls, hit them with the troops. If the enemy's defenses manage to reach and kill your troops, first deploy a stronger troop like a giant that will focus the damage on itself and you can deploy more attack troops.
