Building card houses is fun, easy, and a great pastime.
Steps
Step 1. Save on materials
For best results use cheap papers, the more they are used the better. High quality ones turn out to be shiny and smooth, so they tend to slide easily when you put them on top of each other. The cheaper papers are rougher, which makes them more stable when you put them together.
Step 2. Choose a place away from accidental bumps and with a fabric surface, such as a pool table
A smooth surface like a glass table would cause the cards to slide. To avoid the tablecloths because they could move creating "earthquakes" under the structure. The ideal would be a dull wooden table.
Step 3. Relax, any shaking could cause the castle to collapse
Hold the card firmly, but gently, between two fingers of your dominant hand. Then put it in its place.
Step 4. Create a good foundation
This is the basis for building a solid castle. In a house of cards the foundations are square-shaped like a chest.
-
Take 2 cards, one in each hand, with the long side parallel to the table. Place them against each other forming a sort of T with the shaft slightly off-center. Then, place a third card against the center of one of the previous two forming another T, again with the rod off-center. Close the chest with one last card using the same principle, in order to obtain a foundation as illustrated in the figure.
Step 5. Make the roof
Lay two cards side by side with the figures facing up on the foundation. Add a second layer of two cards in the same way, but placing them at right angles to the first ones.
Step 6. Repeat step 4 and build another crate on the roof
You now have a two story structure. Keep building! Extend the foundation with more T's at the base, then cover it with a roof. Build a second, third, fourth floor and so on until you reach the desired height.
Step 7. Earthquake?
Play to collect your 52 cards and start over.
Step 8. Finished
Advice
- Try to avoid breathing directly on the house of cards. Your breath could easily bring it down.
- Be patient, otherwise you could ruin the castle.
- You should not use fasteners such as glue, tape, staples, staples or anything else. Do not fold or modify the cards in any way to make them stick together. That would be cheating and that's not exactly the point of the game.
