Before you can use Microsoft Office 2010, you need to activate it over the internet or by phone. If you don't, you won't be able to take advantage of all the features of the program.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Internet Activation
Step 1. Open Microsoft Office 2010 on your computer
Step 2. Click on "File", then go to "Help"
Step 3. Click on "Activate Product Key"
The activation wizard window will appear on the screen.
If you don't see "Activate Product Key" under "Help", the program has already been activated and you don't need to do anything else
Step 4. Select the option to activate Microsoft Office 2010 via internet
Step 5. Follow the on-screen steps to register and activate the product
You may need to enter your product key, as well as your name and contact information. The product key is 25 characters long and should be printed on the purchase receipt or Microsoft Office 2010 packaging.
Method 2 of 2: Activation by Phone
Step 1. Launch Microsoft Office 2010 on your computer
Step 2. Click on "File", then go to "Help"
Step 3. Click on "Activate Product Key"
The activation wizard window will appear on the screen.
If you don't see "Activate Product Key" under "Help", the program has already been activated and you don't need to do anything else
Step 4. Select the option to activate Microsoft Office 2010 by phone
Step 5. Select your country or region
Microsoft will give you the Activation Center phone number you need to contact.
Step 6. Call the indicated phone number to contact the Activation Center
Step 7. Enter the installation ID when prompted
You will see it appear on the screen in the Activation Wizard window.
Step 8. Enter the product key and all other information required by the telephone instructions
Step 9. Write down the Confirmation ID that is communicated to you by the Activation Center
Step 10. Type your confirmation ID in the field at the bottom of the activation wizard window
Step 11. Press "Enter"
Microsoft Office 2010 will be activated.
