It may be difficult to browse online if you are using an older version of Internet Explorer. Whenever you visit a site that uses Adobe Flash or other internet applications you will have to manually activate Active X (which controls internet applications in Internet Explorer), otherwise you will not be able to use the internet site in question. Fortunately, activating Active X is simple and takes just a few minutes.
Steps
Step 1. Click "Tools" in the Internet Explorer toolbar
Scroll down to "Options".
Step 2. Click "Security" and then set the "Security Level"
Step 3. Select "ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins
Step 4. Make sure "Skills" is marked next to "ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins
"Also enable" Scripting Safe ActiveX Controls for Scripting ".
Step 5. Confirm the changes by clicking "Apply"
Advice
- Active X is important with Internet Explorer 6 and 7. If you are using Windows XP or Vista, you may have one of these versions of Internet Explorer.
- If you don't want to do this, use a different web browser or upgrade the version of Internet Explorer. Microsoft has made many changes to make these Internet applications easier to read, and the Active X control has been virtually eliminated in the latest versions. No matter what operating system you use, always perform web browser updates. There are always many updates available to fix the errors and gaps in these programs.
- If you want to maintain a high level of security, then leave the settings unchanged. Whenever Active X is required, you will be shown a yellow box through which you can decide whether or not to run the Active X control.
