Most likely, Google is already the Chrome homepage on your computer, but if for some reason you have changed it, chances are you want to know how to get it back. In other cases, you may simply be looking for a method that will make Google the main page when you launch Chrome on your computer. Regardless of your specific needs, below you will find three steps that will allow you to set Google as your Chrome homepage.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Set Google as Homepage and Enable the Home Button
Step 1. Press the button to access the Chrome main menu
A drop-down menu will appear.
The menu icon is located at the top right of the window, next to the address bar, and is represented by three horizontal lines
Step 2. Select the 'Settings' menu item
You will be directed to a new browser tab, where the Chrome settings page will appear.
The settings page will open in the current browser page or tab, in case you chose this option while viewing a blank page or blank tab
Step 3. Select the 'Show home page button' checkbox
You will find it in the 'Appearance' section of the settings page.
By selecting this option, the button to display the homepage will automatically appear on the left side of the address bar
Step 4. If necessary, select the 'Change' link next to the homepage URL
Normally, Google is already set as Chrome's homepage by default. In any case, if not, use the 'Change' option to set the homepage you want.
- A new panel called 'Home page' will appear, where you can set the homepage URL.
- If the Google website is already set as the Chrome homepage, you won't need to make any other changes.
Step 5. Select the 'Open this page' radio button
It is the second option available in the 'Home page' panel.
The radio button 'Use New Tab Page' will set a blank page as the homepage
Step 6. Type the URL of the Google site
In the 'Open this page' field, type the following address: 'https://www.google.it/' (without quotes).
Step 7. Press the 'OK' button
This will save the new settings, and close the 'Home' panel.
You will be redirected to the settings page, even though no other changes are required, your work is in fact completed successfully
Method 2 of 3: Set Google as the Default Startup Page
Step 1. Press the button to access the Chrome main menu
A drop-down menu will appear that will allow you to access many Chrome features.

Step 2. Select the 'Settings' menu item
You will be directed to a new browser tab where the Chrome settings page will appear.
The settings page will open in the current browser page or tab, in case you chose this option while viewing a blank page or blank tab
Step 3. Select the radio button 'Open a specific page or set of pages' located in the 'On startup' section of the 'Settings' page
The other options in the 'On startup' section are: 'Open New Tab page', which will display a blank tab when the browser starts, 'Continue where I left off', which will reopen all tabs that remained open when closed browser during your last browsing session
Step 4. Select the 'Set Pages' link
You will find it on the right of the radio button 'Open a specific page or set of pages'.
By selecting this link, the 'Startup Pages' panel will be displayed
Step 5. Enter the URL of the Google site
Enter the address in the 'Add a new page' field.
The URL of the Google site is: 'https://www.google.it/' (without quotes)
Step 6. Press the 'OK' button
This will save the new settings and close the 'Startup Pages' panel.
You will be redirected to the settings page, even though no other changes are required, your work is in fact completed successfully
Method 3 of 3: Set Google as Default Homepage Directly from the Google Site
Step 1. Press the button to access the Chrome main menu
A drop-down menu will appear that will allow you to access many Chrome features.
- The menu icon is located in the upper right of the window, next to the address bar and is represented by three horizontal lines.
- Make sure you are viewing the main page of the Google site correctly. This procedure only works if you are already viewing the main Google page in your browser window.
Step 2. Select the 'Settings' menu item
You will be directed to a new browser tab where the Chrome settings page will appear.
Do not close the browser page where the Google site is displayed
Step 3. Select the radio button 'Open a specific page or set of pages' which you will find in the 'On startup' section of the 'Settings' page
The other options in the 'On startup' section are: 'Open New Tab page', which will display a blank tab when the browser starts, 'Continue where I left off', which will reopen all tabs that remained open when closed browser during your last browsing session
Step 4. Select the 'Set Pages' link
You will find it on the right of the radio button 'Open a specific page or set of pages'.
Selecting this link will display the 'Startup Pages' panel
Step 5. Press the 'Use Current Pages' button
Once done, in the 'Add a new page' field, the complete list of all the web pages currently displayed in the browser will appear.
The list will consist of the site name and its URL
Step 6. Delete any pages you don't care about
If you have any other pages open at this stage of the process, you'll see them listed, along with Google's, and you'll need to remove them.
- Move the mouse cursor directly to the items in the list that you want to delete. A small 'x' will appear on the right side of each item in the list.
- Select the 'x' icon to delete the page from the list.
- Continue the removal process until only the Google page item remains.
Step 7. Press the 'OK' button
This will save the new settings and close the 'Startup Pages' panel.
