This article tells you how to "like" photos and comments on Instagram, both on the mobile platform and on the website.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Like Photos and Videos (Mobile)
Step 1. Open Instagram
It is a red, purple, orange and yellow app with the white silhouette of a camera. If you are already logged in, your home page will open directly.
If you are not logged in, enter your username (or phone number) and password, then tap "Log In"
Step 2. Look at the various photos to see if you like any of them
You can do this by scrolling through the posts on the home page, but you can also search for a specific user by tapping the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen and entering a name or hashtag.
Step 3. Double-tap the photo or video consecutively
Do it quickly. A white heart should appear on the post for a moment, while the heart shape underneath will turn red.
If you change your mind, tap the red heart below the post
Step 4. If tapping the photo or video twice in a row doesn't give you any results, tap the heart, which is just below it
If it turns red, you will have indicated that you like the post.
Method 2 of 3: Like Photos and Videos (Desktop)
Step 1. Open the Instagram website
The address is: https://www.instagram.com/. If you are already logged in, your home page will open.
If you are not logged in, click "Log in" at the bottom of the page, enter your username (or email address) and password, then click "Log in"
Step 2. Visit the site to search for photos or videos you like
To do this, scroll down the home page until you find a post you like or click on the "Search" bar at the top of the page, then enter an account name or a hashtag.
Step 3. Double click on the photo or video to indicate that you like it
A white heart will appear on the post for a moment, while the heart underneath will turn red.
Step 4. If double clicking doesn't work, click on the heart shape
It is located directly below the photo or video, just above the first comment (if any). The heart will turn red, thus indicating that you like the post.
Method 3 of 3: Like Comments (Mobile)
Step 1. Open Instagram
It is a multicolored app with the white outline of a camera. If you are already logged in, the start page will open directly.
- If you are not logged in, enter your username (or phone number) and password, then tap "Log In".
- You cannot indicate that you like a comment on the Instagram website.
Step 2. Check out the various posts to find a comment you like
If the post in question is in your feed, scroll down until you find it.
To speed up the process, you can also tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen and type the name of the person who posted the photo or video
Step 3. Scroll down and tap a comment
It doesn't have to be the one you want to "like". Tapping on any comment will open the full thread, where you can indicate that you like a specific one.
Step 4. Tap the heart icon, located to the right of the comment
It will turn red, so you have indicated that you like it.
Advice
- "Like" a post increases the credibility of the user who posted it. The number of "likes" received on average is often used as a yardstick for judging someone's success on Instagram.
- You can see a list of posts you've "liked" with your account by tapping the profile icon at the bottom right, opening the "Options" menu (depicted by a gear icon on iPhone and three vertical dots on Android) and tapping "Posts you like".
