Do it quickly. A white heart should appear on the post for a moment, while the heart shape underneath will turn red.

If you change your mind, tap the red heart below the post

Step 4. If tapping the photo or video twice in a row doesn't give you any results, tap the heart, which is just below it

If it turns red, you will have indicated that you like the post.

If the post in question is in your feed, scroll down until you find it.

To speed up the process, you can also tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen and type the name of the person who posted the photo or video

Step 3. Scroll down and tap a comment

It doesn't have to be the one you want to "like". Tapping on any comment will open the full thread, where you can indicate that you like a specific one.

Step 4. Tap the heart icon, located to the right of the comment

It will turn red, so you have indicated that you like it.

Advice

  • "Like" a post increases the credibility of the user who posted it. The number of "likes" received on average is often used as a yardstick for judging someone's success on Instagram.
  • You can see a list of posts you've "liked" with your account by tapping the profile icon at the bottom right, opening the "Options" menu (depicted by a gear icon on iPhone and three vertical dots on Android) and tapping "Posts you like".
