Keeping a blog is fun, but it can get old quickly if it's not visited! Seeing your blog in the top positions of the search engines for the main key phrases should be your goal in order to attract a lot of traffic. Keep in mind that it will take some time, but it is an achievable goal.
Steps
Step 1. Create a blog
If you don't have a blog you can start on Wordpress. If you already have one, good for you! Go to the next step.
Step 2. Choose a topic you think people want to read
If you're planning on gossiping about celebrities, it's a great idea. Don't write about what you did today, because most people don't care. But if you're going to blog about that, you only need to say truly amazing things. An example would be seeing a UFO. If you have a photo to show your readers, then write about that. This is one of the most important steps.
Step 3. Learn about SEO optimization for search engines
It is essential to know which keywords to focus on - the ones people are looking for in search engines - and how readers might find your blog. Some of these keywords are much more searched than others, so it's in your best interest to pick the ones that are used most frequently. Keep in mind that there is often more competition than those that are sought less - but you might be lucky.
Step 4. Focus your efforts on these keywords for now
Pick a major one, which will take longer to rank, along with three or four additional terms you will try to rank for. These should all be similar! After that, you decide to include these keywords in every post you publish on your blog, in the form of various combinations. Always focus your articles on one term and include others only if they make sense. When you focus on these similar keywords, search engines will start ranking you in better positions, because your blog will be tightly targeted and relevant to your goals.
Step 5. Do what you can to get relevant links pointing to your home page and individual posts
Many of the ranking decisions depend on how many backlinks come to your website. You can get these links by writing articles to submit to directories, posting as a guest on other high traffic blogs, using social networks, using social bookmarking sites and buying links (but you have to be very careful with this tactic).
Step 6. Post comments that are relevant and consistent over time
Google seems to favor domains that are of a certain age and that promise well for their visitors. Remember: Google's (and other search engines') goal is to provide the best possible experience for searchers. If your blog turns out to be a good match for your search terms, it will be easier for you to rank up and stay there.
Step 7. Stay on topic
If you have a music blog, then don't post a Twilight post or anything like that. If you do not stay on the subject, you will make your visitors' rating of your blog worse.
Step 8. Make your posts unique
In your articles you offer something that cannot be achieved with other blogs. Try changing the format. You can also try organizing your post. The better it is organized, the better it will look. And the better your articles look, the better your blog will look.
Make sure you always post great content. The better and more interesting your blog is, the more people will visit it. There is nothing better than getting free links just because people liked what you have to say! Always think about the SEO side of what you post, but also remember that you are ultimately meeting the needs of the people in your niche. If they like you, the search engines will like you too
Step 9. Promote your blog
Only when you start, you will have knowledge of the blog. Only start promoting your blog after publishing about fifteen posts. If you promote it first, people will think your blog isn't good enough. Don't spam the link to your blog. There are many ways to promote your site.
- Add tags to your post - they will make your articles detect by search engines like Google.
- Add a link to your site on a well-known and important forum. It would be better if the forum and your blog were on the same topic. Be sure to post on the forum, though.
- Exchange links with other sites. Publish a blogroll, a collection of links to other blogs.
Step 10. Take a break from time to time
Don't take a break every other week, though.
