This article explains how to set a new phone number on iMessage messages and how to select an email address with which free direct messages will be sent (normal SMS will be sent via the mobile number). Unfortunately, it is not possible to set a phone number on iMessage other than the one linked to the SIM card installed in the iPhone.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Reset the Phone Number
Step 1. Understand when to perform this procedure
Restoring the phone number associated with the iPhone is only necessary when the one displayed in iMessage is incorrect. If you have already managed to send messages via the iPhone iMessage service using your mobile number, you will not need to perform the steps described in this section of the article.
If you don't want the recipients of your text messages to know your mobile number, you can set up iMessage to use an email address
Step 2. Launch the Settings app
iPhone.
Tap the corresponding icon with a gray gear.
Step 3. Scroll down the appeared menu to be able to locate and select the option
Messages.
It is displayed approximately in the middle of the "Settings" menu.
Step 4. Select the green slider
of the "iMessage" item.
It is located at the top of the screen. This will disable your phone's iMessage service.
Step 5. Turn off the iPhone and wait 10 minutes
To turn off the device, press and hold the key Power located on the right side of the body, then slide the slider to the right Power
along the words "scroll to turn off". When the iPhone is completely off, wait at least 10 minutes before continuing.
You can press the button to display the slider for switching off the device on the screen Power 5 times consecutively.
Step 6. Turn on the iPhone again
After the 10 minutes indicated, keep the button pressed Power power on until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then release the button you are pressing and wait for the device to complete the boot process.
If you've set up an unlock code, you'll need to enter it when prompted before you can continue
Step 7. I reactivate the iMessage service
Launch the app Settings by touching the icon
select the item Messages, activate the white cursor
placed next to the item "iMessage" and wait for the message "Waiting for activation …" which appeared in the lower part of the "iMessage" section to disappear.
Step 8. Check the current iPhone mobile number
After the iMessage service has been successfully activated, the number associated with it, which is the one currently linked to the SIM card in the device, will be displayed in the section You can receive and send iMessages from:
visible at the bottom of the screen after selecting the option Send and receive.
If your mobile number does not appear within the indicated section, repeat the steps described in this section of the article. Make sure you wait at least 10 minutes before turning the iPhone back on
Method 2 of 2: Change the iMessage Message Sender
Step 1. Launch the Settings app
iPhone.
Tap the corresponding icon with a gray gear.
Step 2. Scroll down the appeared menu to be able to locate and select the option
Messages.
It is displayed approximately in the middle of the "Settings" menu.
Step 3. Tap Send and Receive
It is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Depending on the screen size of your iPhone, you may need to scroll down the page to be able to select the indicated option
Step 4. Review the contents of the section "Start new conversations from:
It is displayed at the bottom of the page. Inside is a list of all the email addresses and phone numbers from which you can send an iMessage.
There should be at least one email address and a mobile number. The email address displayed is the one associated with the Apple ID synchronized with the device
Step 5. Select an email address
Tap the email address you want to use to send iMessages. This way you can be sure that when you send an iMessage, the recipient will see the email address you have chosen as the sender instead of your mobile number.
