Although the Kik Messenger application does not have the traditional "Logout" or logout function, you can always disconnect your profile by resetting the application itself. This procedure will delete any messages there, so you need to archive important ones first. There is no way to exit the application without losing the conversation history, but you will not lose any contacts.
Steps
Step 1. Save all the messages you want to keep
The logout procedure will delete them all. There is no way to prevent this from happening, so you need to save important conversations first. To do this, you have two options:
- Touch and hold on a message and then select the "Copy" function from the menu that appears. Afterward, paste the message into another document that your smartphone can support, such as Google Doc.
- Take a screenshot of the message you want to keep. In this case, you need to open the conversation you are interested in, so that it is fully visible on the screen. Next, press and hold the key combination that allows your phone to take a screenshot (usually, the start key combined with the volume up or down key and the Home key). At this point, the image will be saved in the gallery.
Step 2. Tap the icon that looks like a gear located in the top right corner of the application
In this way, open the settings menu.
Step 3. Tap "Your Account"
This allows you to see your profile details.
Step 4. Scroll the screen down and tap: "Reset Kik Messenger". At this point, you will be asked to confirm the operation.
By resetting the application your account will be disconnected and the messages deleted; however, you will not lose the Kik contact book
Step 5. Confirm your willingness to reset the application
By doing so, Kik Messenger will disconnect your profile and the login screen will reappear. If you still want to use the application, you will need to enter your login credentials again.
If you don't know your Kik Messenger password, you can reset it at ws.kik.com/p by entering your email address. Follow the link that will be sent to you to create a new one. If you cannot access the mailbox you used to register on Kik Messenger, you will not be able to reset your password
Step 6. Log in to Kik Messenger using another device if you need to do it remotely
If you cannot use your usual device, you can access the application from a different terminal and at the same time the session opened on the previous mobile or tablet will be disconnected. Remember that this procedure will delete all messages on the original device.
Step 7. Deactivate your account permanently
If you never want to use Kik Messenger again, you can deactivate the profile:
- Go to ws.kik.com/deactivate and enter the email address associated with the account.
- Open the e-mail message that was sent to you and follow the link contained. This will guide you through the cancellation process. Remember to also check your spam folder and, if you use Gmail, also the "Promotions" and "Updates" tabs.
