This wikiHow teaches you how to sync other calendars with the Outlook application on an Android phone or tablet. Outlook allows you to sync calendars saved on the web or in the cloud from Exchange, Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and other Outlook accounts. You can also sync them from other Android apps that have calendars, such as Facebook, Evernote, Meetup, and Wunderlist.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Synchronize from a Different Account
Step 1. Open Outlook on your device
The blue icon looks like an "O" next to an envelope. It is usually found on the Home screen or in the application menu. If you don't have the Outlook application, you can download it for free from the Play Store.
Use this method for sync from another account with an online calendar, such as Gmail, iCloud, Exchange, Yahoo or even a different Outlook account. To sync from an Android application that has a built-in calendar (Wunderlist, Meetup, Facebook, or Evernote), read this method.
Step 2. Tap on the calendar symbol
It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Press the menu button ☰
It is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 4. Click on the "Add Calendar" button
The icon looks like a calendar with a del sign + blue and white. It is located in the upper left corner of the menu.
Step 5. Select Add an account
It is the first option in the pop-up that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Step 6. Enter your email address and select Add Account
You will need to use the email address associated with the account you intend to add. This will open the login screen for the selected account.
Step 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to log in
The steps you need to take to log in depend on the type of account you plan to add.
- Gmail: click on Next, enter the password and then click on Next again. Scroll down and tap on Allow to authorize Outlook to access your Gmail calendar.
- iCloud: If you have activated two-factor authentication, log into your iCloud account at https://appleid.apple.com. Then, click on Generate password in the section titled "Security" in order to create an application-specific password. You will need to enter it in Outlook to add the calendar.
Step 8. Enter a description (optional)
The description will serve you only to have a point of reference.
Step 9. Click on the check mark
It is located in the upper right corner. The account will be saved in Outlook and the calendar will be synchronized.
- The calendar will be synchronized automatically, provided the device is connected to the internet.
- To determine which calendars you want to view in Outlook, press the ☰ button in the upper left corner of the calendar, then press the check mark next to a calendar to turn it on or off.
- You can change the color associated with the calendar by clicking on the gear symbol next to its name and selecting a different shade.
Method 2 of 4: Synchronize from a Built-in Calendar Application
Step 1. Open Outlook on your device
The icon is blue and has an "O" next to an envelope. It is usually found on the Home screen or in the application menu.
- Use this method if you want to sync from an application that has a built-in calendar. Supported applications are Facebook, Evernote, Wunderlist and Meetup. If you want to sync a calendar from another online service (such as Gmail, Yahoo, another Outlook account, iCloud, or an Exchange server), read this method instead.
- If you don't have the Outlook application, you can download it for free from the Play Store.
Step 2. Tap on the calendar symbol
It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Press the menu button ☰
It is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 4. Click on the "Add Calendar" button

Step 5. Select Calendar Applications
This option is located at the bottom of the screen. A list of calendar applications will appear that you can synchronize with Outlook.
Step 6. Tap on + next to an application
This will open the associated application or login screen.
Step 7. Log in to the selected application
Follow the on-screen instructions to access the selected application, should you be prompted to do so. Not all applications require you to sign in.
If you want to link your Facebook calendar and you are logged in to this application on your device, you can press on Continue as [name] instead of entering the password.
Step 8. Follow the onscreen instructions to sync your calendar
For example, if you want to sync your Facebook calendar, you'll need to authorize Outlook to access it. Once the calendar has been synced, a blue check mark will appear next to its name.
- The calendar will be synchronized automatically, provided the device is connected to the internet.
- To determine which calendars you want to view in Outlook, press the ☰ button in the upper left corner of the calendar, then press the check mark next to a specific calendar to turn it on or off.
- You can change the color associated with the calendar by clicking on the gear symbol next to its name and selecting a different shade.
Method 3 of 4: Sync an "Interesting Calendar" from Bing
Step 1. Open Outlook on your device
The blue icon looks like an "O" next to an envelope. It is usually found on the Home screen or in the application menu.
- Use this method to sync one of Bing's "Interesting Calendars" with your Android device. These calendars include games, television shows and events.
- If you don't have the Outlook application, you can download it for free from the Play Store.
Step 2. Tap on the calendar symbol
It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Press the menu button ☰
It is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 4. Click on the "Add Calendar" button
The icon looks like a calendar with a del sign + blue and white. It is located in the upper left corner of the menu.
Step 5. Select Interesting Calendars
It is the second option in the menu at the bottom of the screen. The list of categories of public calendars offered by Bing will be displayed.
Step 6. Select a category
A list of sub-categories will appear.
For example, selecting the category TV, a list with various time bands will open.
Step 7. Select a sub-category
This will show the list of calendars belonging to the category in question.
For example, if you select a time slot in the "TV" category, the list of TV programs (with their respective times) will appear that you can synchronize. The "Sport" category presents a sub-category for each sport and then another with the different series or leagues
Step 8. Tap the + key on a calendar
This button is located to the right of the calendar name. The selected calendar will then be added to Outlook.
- To change the calendars that appear in Outlook, press the ☰ button in the upper left corner of the calendar, then press the check mark next to the calendar to turn it on or off.
- You can change the color associated with the calendar by clicking on the gear symbol next to its name and selecting a different shade.
Method 4 of 4: Troubleshoot Synchronization Issues
Step 1. Make sure your calendars are all set up for viewing
If you don't see any events on a synced calendar (or can't see the calendar at all), try the following:
- Open Outlook and press ☰;
- Add a check mark to the "Calendar" option in the section of the same name (if the sign is not already present);
- Add a check mark to any other calendars you want to view.
Step 2. Activate access to your contacts
If your contacts aren't displaying correctly, do the following to make sure Outlook has permission to see them:

iPhone / iPad;
- Open the Settings;
- Scroll down and press on Outlook;
- Make sure the switches next to "Contacts" and "Background App Refresh" are both turned on (they should be green).

Android (Menu names may vary depending on the model):
- Open the Settings;
- Select Applications and then Outlook;
- If the "Contacts" option is disabled, activate it now;
- Go back to the Outlook application and press su☰;
- Press on the gear symbol;
- Select your account;
- Select Sync contacts.
Step 3. Restore your Outlook account
If syncing continues to give you trouble, here's how to restore your account on the Outlook application:
- Open Outlook and press the ☰ menu;
- Press on the gear symbol;
- Select the account and press on Reset account;
- If after a few minutes the calendar still doesn't sync, delete the account and add it again.
