This article explains how to trace the serial number of a smartphone without having to remove the battery or having to disassemble the back cover. Retrieving the serial number of a traditional mobile phone could be a bit more complex, but this information is usually reported directly on the external body of the device or in the documentation.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: iPhone
Step 1. Enter the "Settings" menu
iPhone.
Tap the Settings app icon with a gray gear.
Step 2. Scroll down the menu to be able to select the item

Step 1. Launch the Settings app on your Android device

Step 2. Scroll the "Settings" menu all the way to be able to select the Device Info option or About the phone.

In most cases, the battery cover can be removed by simply sliding it down.
Before performing this step make sure your device is turned off
Step 3. Try using the "Settings" menu
If your traditional mobile phone has a button or a "Menu" or "Settings" item, use it to access the section Information or Info. The serial number of the device will most likely be listed within this menu tab. Use the directional arrows or the d-pad on your phone to scroll through the menu items.
Step 4. Check the device's original packaging or receipt or invoice
If you kept these documents when you bought your mobile phone, the serial number of the mobile phone should be printed directly on the packaging in the form of a sticker or on the receipt or invoice / receipt.
Step 5. Check your account
If you have a subscription with a traditional telephone operator, such as Tim or Vodafone (for example not a rechargeable SIM), you should normally be able to trace the basic information of the device directly from the web page relating to your personal account.

In order for the customer service agent to verify your identity, you will need to provide some personal information, such as your name, date of birth, an identification PIN code or social security number
Step 7. Contact the mobile phone manufacturer
If you have not yet been able to trace the serial number of your mobile device, try contacting the company that produced it directly to find out where you can locate it. In this case you will need to contact the manufacturer of the device and not the customer support of your telephone company.
Samsung and Apple are examples of companies that make mobile devices, while Tim and Vodafone are telephone operators
Advice
- If you need to have your smartphone repaired or replaced, the staff at the point of sale of the telephone operator you contacted may request the IMEI / MEID or ESN code. This is an identification code different from the serial number of the device, but it is normally shown in the same menu (for example in the "Info" section of the "Settings" menu of the iPhone or in the "About phone" section of the main menu of the device Android).

- Below the panel that hides the battery compartment.
- On the bottom of the battery compartment.
