Isn't it embarrassing when your friends tell you, "Shall we go play football in the park?" And you have to answer "no", why don't your parents let you go? Well, now you can.
Steps
Step 1. Earn the trust of your parents
If your parents do not trust you, it will be difficult for them to believe that you are where you say you are, or that you will return home at the appointed time. If they don't trust you, make sure you earn it.
Step 2. Save some money if the place you want to go is paid or if you want to buy something, a snack or a drink
Step 3. Explain exactly where you are going and how you will go
Step 4. Have your parents contact (or find) you while you are away
It could mean having a friend with a cell phone (if you don't have one), or giving a phone number of the place where you go.
Step 5. Try to be reasonable
If you want to go to a mall at night, or some other unsafe place, you can't expect your parents to give you permission.
Step 6. Show that you are trustworthy about other things
If you do chores, homework or other things without their supervision, they will understand that you are mature enough to take care of yourself.
Step 7. Tell your parents that your friend (let's call him Marco) asked you out
You can say something like: “Marco asked me to go to the park with him. I can go?"
Step 8. Set yourself limits
If they let you out, ask what time you need to come back, if you can change plans and if you need to be heard at a certain time.
-
Make sure you know what time it is.
-
Write down the important numbers (home, your cell phone, office number, etc.)
-
Bring coins if you need to call from a pay phone.
-
Bring some money for the bus, if you need it.
Step 9. If you go to a club, show your website to your parents
Ask what they think. If they weren't completely convinced, prove mature and seek a compromise.
Advice
- Ask for things politely and don't get angry. Behave like an adult which you want to be considered.
- Don't forget your phone if you have one.
- Let them know who you are going with.
- Do something they can enjoy, like making a cup of tea or coffee for them. Everyone loves a good cup of tea or coffee and will be willing to say yes if they are in a good mood.
- Make the right choices.
- Come back on time.
- Explain to them how much this can help you.
- Bring little money.
- Ask them to give it a try. You choose the place and leave alone, with them following you at a distance. If they think they can trust them, they will let you go alone.
Warnings
- Don't ask out immediately after an argument.
- Ask what time you need to come back and be on time or they won't trust you anymore.
- Pick the right time to ask when you are alone and your parents are in a good mood.
- If they give you rules, don't question them, otherwise they won't let you out on your own again.
- Don't sneak out or they'll never trust you again.
- Don't lie about where you go.
