In some situations, such as during a boxing match, MMA match, or in self-defense, your goal may be to knock out your opponent as soon as possible. Often, this is the quickest way to end a fight. In general, to knock a person down it is necessary to rotate his head sideways; this causes an impact between the brain and the skull wall, resulting in fainting. Whether you need to knock out an opponent in self-defense or to win a fight, here are some effective ways to do it in one hit.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Throw a Punch to the Temple
Step 1. Get into position
To strike with your right hand, keep your left leg in front of you and your right leg further back. Bend your knees slightly.
Step 2. Try to relax your body
During the loading phase, make sure you keep your body relaxed: you will hit harder.
Step 3. Aim for the temple
The temples are located on the sides of the face, between the hair and eyebrows, at eye level. A well-placed punch to the temple causes a violent impact between the brain and the lining of the skull, causing a faint.
Step 4. Close your hand into a fist and complete the movement
In some cases it may be easier to hit with the palm of your hand, but in this circumstance with the fist you will be more accurate. It is extremely difficult to hit hard on the side of a person's head using just the palm.
Step 5. Use your hips to generate power and not just your arms
Thanks to this technique, your shots will inflict greater damage on your opponent. Always use it to make sure your punches are stronger.
Method 2 of 4: Jaw Punch
Step 1. Keep your left leg forward
If you want to strike with your right hand, bring your left leg in front of your right. Bend your knees slightly and don't tense up.
Step 2. Practice rotating your pelvis
Bring your right elbow close to your body, with your fist closed as if you are about to strike. Turn your chest to the right, then practice turning your upper body towards your opponent. Thanks to this movement, your punch will be stronger.
Step 3. Contract your body
Right before throwing your punch, contract your body muscles. Remember to breathe. This way, you will be able to impart more power to your punches. You will also be able to keep your cool should the fight continue.
Step 4. Aim for the jaw or center of the chin
By hitting your opponent in the chin, the chances of knocking him out are higher. You can try the following two techniques:
- Upright. This punch targets the opponent's jaw directly from the bottom up, minimizing lateral movements. The target's head should snap up.
- Hook. With this punch, strike the jaw from the side. The opponent's head should rotate to one side, causing him to faint.
Step 5. Use your hips to generate power and not just your arms
Thanks to this technique, your shots will inflict more damage on your opponent. Baseball players also use it to hit the ball harder.
Step 6. Remember to continue arm movement after impact
Your goal is to hit the opponent's jaw from below or from the side. If you are throwing a hook, make sure the trajectory of the punch is slightly curved and not quite linear.
Method 3 of 4: Knock Out an Opponent with a Kick
Step 1. Get into a stable position
Spread your legs shoulder-width apart and plant your feet firmly on the ground.
Step 2. Protect your face
Bend your elbows and hold them together. Raise your hands to protect your face.
Step 3. Raise your right leg
Kick up with your right leg and aim for the part of the opponent's face just below the jaw.
Step 4. Your opponent's head should snap back and throw him off balance
Be careful, he may even lose consciousness
Method 4 of 4: Striking to the Throat
Step 1. Be aware that a direct blow to the throat can seriously injure a person, causing damage to the windpipe
Use this strategy only as a last resort or if your life is in danger.
Step 2. Get in position
You can use your index and middle fingers to "stab" your opponent in the throat. Extend both fingers and bring them together. Contract your hand muscles and get ready to strike.
Step 3. Aim at the assailant's throat with your fingers
More precisely, the notch located between the collarbones, at the base of the neck.
Step 4. Use your fingers to strike the assailant's throat
Push against the skin. The opponent's pharynx will collapse inward, preventing him from breathing.
Advice
- Stay focused on your opponent. If you lose sight of it, you will be defeated.
- Always be ready to fight back and defend yourself if your opponent attacks first.
- If your opponent walks away, let him go and leave as well.
- Try to hit the opponent while blinking. Even a split second of distraction can give you a chance to end a fight prematurely.
- If you find yourself in a situation that you cannot escape from, try hitting your attacker while he is talking or when he least expects it.
- Always deal hits in series.
- Direct blows to the throat are very dangerous and painful; use them only in life or death situations. Be prepared to take responsibility for your actions.
- Always remember to hit the temple correctly or you risk killing your opponent!
- When protecting your face, try not to keep your fists too close to your face, or you will risk hitting yourself.
- Keep practicing on dummies. You will feel safer at the time of a real fight.
Warnings
- The strength of a punch directly depends on the laws of physics: it is a relationship between mass and speed. If you are not very muscular, make sure your punches are faster. Of course, with the right combination of mass and speed you will be able to be more effective.
- Hit only if you have no other choice.
- Use method 4 only if you don't physically have the ability to do anything else. It doesn't take a lot of force to injure a person in the larynx.
- Remember that you will have to face the consequences of your gesture.
- Follow the advice in this guide only if you don't have a way out.
