Have you just started playing football? Not sure which position is best for you? If you try your hardest, you may be able to become a pro.
Steps
Step 1. Try to understand your role
To help you make the decision, identify your strengths and weaknesses. Here are some examples:
- Goalkeeper - good hand eye coordination, firm grip, and no fear of minor injuries; your fitness may be lower than that of other players.
- Defense - physical strength, speed of running, good passing skills.
Step 2. Fullback - even if you have defensive responsibilities you will also need to have the stamina and confidence to advance and participate in the game and possession, as well as good passing and cross skills
Midfielder - you will need to have a lot of confidence with the ball and keep possession or recover it, interrupting the opponent's plots; you will need to have good passing skills and run the team in both attack and defense, having the stamina to run for 90 minutes. Step 3. Wing - even though the wings have the responsibility of returning to defense and helping the full backs, they are essential for crossing and widening the defensive line, and putting crosses in the center
Attacker - you will need to have good shooting skills, good agility and speed, ability to dribble defenders and physical strength
Step 4. Try different positions to understand all aspects and areas of the game
Be observed by friends and ask for their opinion. It will be easier to choose the right position thanks to the opinion of others.
Step 5. Play football often
Once you have chosen your position, play football regularly so that you can get used to your position. Remember, be sporty and have fun. And always try to give your best! This will allow you to achieve your goals.
Advice
- Don't be afraid to take a slide or head tackle, in some cases it can be crucial.
- For midfielders: The role of the midfielder is one of the most important, because you have to support the defenders and create scoring chances for the forwards. And the best midfielders also score a few goals for their team.
- For Goalkeepers: If you're afraid of diving first try doing it on a mat to get a feel for the feel. Also, don't go too far off the goal line unless a player from the other team is on a breakaway. Avoid doing this if the counter-attack is made up of two or three opponents who can easily jump you with passes.
- For Attackers: Before choosing this role, make sure you meet the requirements described above. Being a striker isn't just about scoring. Goals are important, but a true striker needs all the skills mentioned in this article.
- Don't play too hard. Depending on your age, you may receive yellow or red cards for misconduct. This is especially true if you play as a defender or goalkeeper. If you have to stop an opponent with a foul, do it from the front and not from behind.
- For full backs, remember to play on the side of your strong foot, but don't neglect the other foot. Also avoid pushing yourself too far, so as not to leave your position exposed.
- For the defenders: when the opposing team advances, prepare and move quickly. You will need to have the energy to follow the attackers. Always try to regain possession of the ball. Cover the shooting and passing lines.
Warnings
- Don't let glory be your only motivation. Many people want to play forwards to score more goals. All positions are valuable.
- Remember to be sporty, not to monopolize the ball and not to be a braggart. Your classmates would probably hate you if you did these behaviors.
- Respect the rules.
- If you decide to become a goalkeeper, be prepared to get dirty and hurt.
