A clean white sole can make your ultra boost sneakers look truly amazing. Being soft and spongy, these insoles can get dirty easily. Dirt can affect the rubber sole (or sole) or even the spongy part along the edges of the shoe. If it's just small dirt spots, you can easily remove them with a wipe or stain remover pen. More stubborn and widespread stains may require washing in the washing machine or the use of being scrubbed with a suitable shoe cleaner. With little effort, the sole of your ultra boost shoes will be as good as new.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Remove Stains
Step 1. Run a wet wipe across the bottom and sides of the shoe
On the bottom, pass the towel even between the rubber grooves of the sole. Then take another clean towel and wipe it gently along the sides.
- After using the wet wipe, gently dry the shoes by wiping the edges with a paper towel.
- Any type of wet wipe will work, unless you want to use one that is specific for stain removal or with antibacterial properties to remove dirt even more easily.
Step 2. Use a lightening pen on stubborn or darker spots
If the dirt marks do not come off with a wet wipe, a lightening pen can be the solution to lighten the stains: remove the cap and rub the marker on the stain. For an even more satisfying result, put the shoes in the washing machine immediately afterwards.
Step 3. Hide permanent stains with a white permanent marker or oil-based marker
You can find them both in stationery. Remove the cap and gently wipe the tip over the area where the stain is. To avoid color differences, you can pass the marker over the entire sole. Finally let it dry for a few hours.
Permanent and oil-based markers can be toxic. Make sure you work in a ventilated place. If your head starts to spin, take a break
Method 2 of 3: Use the Washing Machine
Step 1. Remove the laces
If they need to be clean, place them in a bag for delicates and put them in the washing machine with your shoes on.
Step 2. Put the shoes in the washing machine
You can wash your shoes with towels, blankets or sheets. If you don't have anything else to wash, you can only put your shoes in the washing machine.
Step 3. Use ¼ scoop (75 grams) of detergent or bleach
Use a detergent designed for dyed or colored garments to protect the colors. Use bleach for white shoes. Pour some into the door, then close the washing machine.
Step 4. Set the washing machine to a regular hot water cycle
Turn the knobs or press the buttons to set the temperature to "hot" and the cycle to "regular" or "normal". Hot water is more effective than cold water at removing dirt. Once the washing machine starts its wash cycle, you may hear the shoes slam from side to side inside the drum. This is completely normal.
Step 5. Let the shoes air dry overnight
Store them in a dry and clean place. Avoid putting them in the dryer, as it could damage them. Shoes should be dry the next morning. Put the laces back on before putting them on.
Method 3 of 3: Hand Wash Shoes
Step 1. Get a basin full of water, two brushes, shoe cleaner and some paper towels
Keep all of these items close at hand so that you can use them throughout the process. Regarding brushes, the ideal would be to have a soft bristle brush and one with hard bristles.
- You can find shoe cleaner at a shoe store, supermarket, or online.
- If you have no way of finding shoe cleaner, mix equal parts water and dish soap until you get the consistency of liquid soap.
Step 2. Brush the edges of the white sole with the soft bristle brush
Dip the brush in water and press a small amount of shoe cleaner onto the bristles. Instead of rubbing, run it gently along the sides of the shoe. Press gently so as not to damage the delicate material.
Step 3. Scrub the sole of the shoe with the stiff bristle brush
Dip the brush in the water and squeeze some detergent on it. As you scrub, the cleaner will begin to foam. Make sure you get the bristles into each groove in the rubber sole. Move the brush with small circular movements, to best remove all traces of dirt.
Step 4. Remove soap residue with paper towels
Make sure you also remove the foam from the bottom of the shoe. Likewise, dry the sides of the shoe. You will probably need to use 2 or 3 paper towels before removing any foam.
Step 5. Wait until the shoes are dry before putting them on again
You can let them air dry. It may only take a couple of hours. If they are still wet, dab them again with a paper towel. Once dry, you can wear them again.
