Vera Bradley bags require special attention when they are washed. Powerful chemicals can damage them. Also, it's a good idea to take care of them right away, as soon as they are purchased, to prevent them from getting dirty.
Steps
Step 1. Prepare your bag
Dust it to remove any kind of dirt, lint, dust, etc. This is a good time to decide whether to clean only the dirty parts of the bag instead of washing it entirely.
Check the inside of your bag to see if there is a piece of cardstock at the bottom that serves as a backing. If there is, you should be able to remove it easily. Make sure it's not there before putting the bag in the washing machine
Step 2. Select a gentle wash cycle
Use cold water only.
Step 3. Add some vinegar
It's the only addition you need, don't put detergent!
Step 4. Start the wash
Do not choose too high a speed.
Step 5. Dry indoors
Try hanging the bag on a coat hook. A good place to put it could be on top of the washing machine drain, so it can drip off without problems.
Step 6. Spray Scotchgard spray on the bag
That way, it will be harder for him to get stained in the future. Whenever you buy a new Verda Bradley bag, use this spray right from the start so that maybe you won't need to wash it in the washing machine.
Step 7. Make sure you put back the piece of card stock that serves as the bag holder inside it, if there was one
Step 8. Finished
Advice
- Do not put other things with the bag in the washing machine, unless they are other Vera Bradley bags.
- It is also okay to dry the bag after spreading it horizontally; use a drying rack or something similar to keep it from getting dirty and for air to circulate freely around the bag.
- The vinegar is delicate and helps bring back the faded colors of the bag.
- The solid bases of the bag must be removed in some models before washing. However, some bases are sewn to the bag itself; in this case, you will not have to remove them.
- Some limited edition bags have washing instructions; follow them!
Warnings
- Even the mildest of cleansers can fade a Vera Bradley bag. Use only vinegar.
