To be a beach girl, you need to have a carefree attitude accompanied by a practical and relaxed style. Whether you are on vacation or living in a seaside city, you can cultivate a suitable look and personality by making a few small changes to your wardrobe and your way of doing things.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Look
Step 1. Choose a cute costume
Wear a bikini or one piece that makes you feel comfortable and pretty. Try one in a vibrant color or print, which you usually wouldn't wear. If you will be surfing, also wear a wetsuit or rash guard.
- Try wearing a white or glow-in-the-dark swimsuit to enhance your tan. For a Baywatch-inspired look, choose a fiery red one.
- If you want to cover your belly, choose a one-piece or a tankini. If you have large breasts, a supportive bathing suit with underwire will do. If you have small breasts, choose a ruffled or decorated top.
Step 2. Wear beach clothes
Wear a lightweight cover-up, a printed dress, or a t-shirt, tank top or crop top paired with shorts. If you can, remember to coordinate the colors or prints with the costume. Complete the look with a beach hat, straw cowboy hat or cap.
If you go to the beach in the evening, bring something to cover yourself, such as a light blanket, sweatshirt, or knitted poncho
Step 3. Style your hair right
Gather your hair in a bun or a soft ponytail, but you can also leave it loose, a little tousled. If they are straight, create some beach waves by making braids or four small buns before bed, then undo them in the morning. If they're curly or afro, leave them loose or try making some pigtails.
- Try a salt spray or make it yourself by mixing sea salt and water. You can also add coconut oil and a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair hydrated.
- For natural highlights and lightening hair, pour fresh lemon juice or chamomile and water into a spray bottle. Mix the solution and spray it on the lengths before you expose yourself to the sun. Do this regularly and you will see that they will clear up.
Step 4. Don't overdo the makeup
Don't wear makeup at all, or just apply clear lip gloss or lip balm. You can also wear mascara, but make sure it's waterproof.
- To brighten your lips and at the same time prevent them from burning or drying / chapping due to the wind, try a lip balm with SPF.
- Use a tinted moisturizer with SPF, which nourishes, protects from the sun and evens out the complexion.
Step 5. Don't overdo the accessories
Wear plain sunglasses and a straw or beach cowboy hat. Walk barefoot, put on flip flops or sandals. Go for simple, summer-perfect accessories like a braided necklace or bracelet, or a shell or beaded anklet. Bring a cute and colorful beach bag to pack your towel, sunscreen, and a bottle of water.
Step 6. Get a tan
If you spend a lot of time on the beach, you will get a nice glowing complexion, but apply sunscreen, stay in the sun for a short time, moisturize your skin before and after. For an even more golden and radiant complexion, also apply a tinted cream.
- Put on a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher 30 minutes before going out. Repeat the application every 2 hours, or every time you get wet or sweat.
- Bring an umbrella and a deck chair as well, so that you can shelter from the sun from time to time.
Method 2 of 3: Attitude
Step 1. Try to be sunny and flirtatious
Whether you are social by nature or introverted, bring out your most mischievous and adventurous side. Go to the beach with good friends to feel comfortable. Try flirting with a surfer by asking him questions about the sport (and asking him if he can teach you anything) or chatting to a lifeguard.
- If you are reserved, relax alone by sunbathing on a towel or a deck chair, listening to music, reading a book or a magazine. A beach girl can also have an introverted and mysterious attitude.
- Try to be relaxed. Get away from friends who argue or make a scene, be open when plans change or your group has a new idea. To be a beach girl, it's essential to be relaxed and carefree.
Step 2. Participate in beach activities
Play beach volleyball, throw a Frisbee, go skateboarding on the waterfront. Learn to surf, bodyboard or swim. You can also try boating, jet skiing or water skiing to experience something new. Find out about surfing, bodyboarding or sailing lessons and where to rent or buy all the necessary equipment.
If you are on vacation or new to the city, check with the locals to find out when parties or other fun activities are organized on the beach
Step 3. Learn the lingo
If you are in a place where surfing is practiced, find out about the terms used by surfers and use some of them too when you speak, such as dude, "friend", local, or a surfer who regularly frequents a spot (place with surfable waves) and belongs to the local community, tourist, that is, non-local surfer. You can also learn terms specific to the sport, such as gnarly, "impressive", from kine, the best type of wave, and ankle biter, waves that are too small.
Step 4. Make friends on the beach
Hook up with someone. Join a group of swimmers and ask for advice on activities to do for fun. Join a game of beach volleyball or make friends with people who regularly engage in a beach sport to keep you moving and meeting people.
Method 3 of 3: Lifestyle
Step 1. Go to the beach as often as possible
If you live by the sea and can do it, try to go there every day or on weekends. If you are on vacation, do your research and choose a place with popular beaches for sunbathing, surfing or other water sports, depending on your preferences.
- If you plan on swimming or surfing, be sure to inquire about the water temperature. Some seas are warmer than others. If necessary, buy a diving suit.
- If you go on vacation, try to choose a warm winter destination, such as Mexico, Bali or the Caribbean, to make the most of your time on the beach.
Step 2. Look for work near the beach
If you live in a seaside resort, you can get paid to spend more time on the beach and keep up with your lifestyle. Look for a job as a surf instructor, lifeguard, shop assistant or waitress.
Step 3. Go to the beach early in the morning to find the best waves and surf (or to chat with the surfers)
Check out the tide graphs, sea bulletin and break information for a certain beach to find the best times and conditions for surfing.
Step 4. Learn about beach parties
You will probably be on the beach mostly during the day, but you can also go there in the evening on the weekend to see if anyone has organized a bonfire, party or other event and participate.
Advice
Be true to yourself. You don't have to change who you are to become a beach girl. Wear and do what you really like, that way you will be attractive and fun effortlessly
Warnings
- Be careful when swimming, surfing or other beach activities, as surfing with high waves and back currents can be dangerous. Watch out for all the signs, avoid the sea when the wind is strong or in a storm, and never venture into the water when there are no lifeguards.
- If you have dyed hair, avoid products containing salt, otherwise they will cause the color to fade sooner.
